Why time seems to be getting quicker....
Ever wondered why each year seems to pass by quicker than the last?
This was a question that I asked a friend recently. His answer was this:
"A year is merely a fraction of your life. The older you are, the smaller it becomes"
Let's look at an example. Say we have a 2 year old child and a 50 year old adult. For the toddler, 1 year represents 50% of their life (1/2). However, for the adult, 1 year represents only 2% of their life (1/50). This might explain how we've got to mid May already!!!
The real scientific reason is that there's a gland in your brain that requests sensory updates. As you age, it requests updates less often which allows us to percieve time as though it were going quicker.
Thanks holoz0r, interesting. So we now have both a mathematical reason and now a biological reason....
Interesting stuff. We may think we count in years but our brains will count in a different way.
Interesting way to look at it. Thanks for the post it has kick started my brain for the day.
