As more and more land becomes occupied the only other space is to build up. I think the movie ‘Fifth Element’ gave a good depiction of what civilization can look like in 50-100 years from now. Once we have mainstream self-driving vehicles, the next step will be cars that can drive on land and also fly (hybrid purpose vehicles). And once we are driving in the air it will only be a natural thought to further consider and explore the possibilities of other infrastructures.

There are also patterns in society where minimalistic ideals are becoming the norm. We have gone through trends where we want everything bigger but now for some it is more convenient to live in smaller spaces, with an organized flow. Where will these next trends take us? Possibly an extension upon the RV concept but smaller, more compact and jam packed with advanced technology.
