Ethical Analysis Of Cryptos & ICOs Series - An Introduction

Although only a small percentage of the population have even heard of crypto currency, let alone own any, a growing number of people are hearing about it and are investing. Personally, I heard about Bitcoin in 2011 and started experimenting with it in 2013. The reason why I was an early adopter is that through my ‘artivism’

I became aware of libertarian and anarchist philosophies and people in those communities were excited about the disruptive potential of bitcoin.

Today, many of the investors in cryptocurrency, are just in it for the money. I don’t judge them for that. Having been More involved in the past year on the crypto scene, I see the effect that greed has on me and how tempting it is to invest in any coin, no matter what it’s ethics/values.

I have questioned the whole idea of money in this recent video

Eventually, when we realise who we really are and that we are all a holographic part of the one consciousness, we won’t need or want to barter or trade. We won’t need or want to COMPETE with each other. We won’t need or want to USE each other to get our needs met. We will treat each other like the brothers and sisters we are and voluntarily share our gifts with others. See the amazing teacher Tom Cambell talk about this.

Until then, people are going to want to trade and should surely be able to do so without interference from some ruling class of people who think they have magical God given powers that we don’t have and therefore we MAY BE better off with decentralised currencies and services than centralised ones.

So although it’s great fun and potentially life changing to generate profits from cryptos, for me, the disruption of the twisted system (some call it the ‘shitstem!’) is exponentially more important and interesting than the potential profits. And for me, that disruption must come with the values of love, compassion and the non aggression principle at its core.

So, with the help of various people including an anonymous friend, AKA The sourcerer, who in my opinion has a brilliant mind, I intend to produce a series of blogs About Specific Crypto-Currencies and ICOs and Their Implications from an Ethical/values Point of View, which very few crypto commentators seem to talk about.

And as always, we look forward to your comments and contributions to the discussion. Please let us know in the comments which ICOs and/or cryptos you would like us to analyse.

I will of course be sharing the rewards with the the researchers, which is one of the great features about Steemit.

Stay tuned!!

Very interesting Danny, I will follow this Blog. I love Tom Campbell, and recommend everyone to watch his videos.

I look forward to the posts on specific coins. I always tell people to look at what is behind the coins before investing, which relates to both the technology and the impact of the coin on the world.

I do think this is the disruptive technology that can enable humanity to survive and flourish!

Great idea for a series. Ethics is the number one consideration in any cryptos I buy.

Which onesdo you hold?

Right now, not much. I sold everything I had in poloniex due to their recent policy changes. Anyway, Swarm City is a great concept. I had some Bitshares and EOS. I'm waiting for Foodcoin to hit the exchanges. How about you?

Oh yeah, and Substratum, too.

Very interesting post , I only started with crypto in May of last year and yes that is to make some money not for a lambo though but just to be able to enjoy life a bit more . With our zar it has been not that easy to get the coins as it is still expensive from this side of the globe . Made a couple of bob though ;)

Have been looking at EOS and got a couple last year but the more I read about EOS it just grows on me . What is your thoughts on EOS ? I personally think it can be a game changer ...

I think the ethical aspect of investing your money is one which should hold more weight than it usually does with the average consumer/investor. For example I fully support the city of New York in their decision to divest from fossil fuels. Regardless of if your portfolio is increasing I think it's quite daft to ignore the real-world effects of what your investment is funding. If your stocks are gaining but your environment is giving you lung cancer (for lack of a better example) then are you really winning?
Anyway I'll definitely be following this, maybe give a look at WePower or PowerLedger?

I heard about cryptos for couple ofnyears, but never really into it. Even after joined steemit, i was still like.. okay..lets write first, read otherpost..then think about the reward and crypo at the end.

But then.. it does seem interesting, I've tried to read a lot, but believe me, I dont get it as much as I expected :D

yes danny! i too have had to 'check myself' in the last few weeks with regards to investments. i havent put much into anything at all but i didnt like how i was blindly investing just for the potential payout.
I'm currently rather interested in Golem. the shared decentralised computer power seems like a real decent step in the right direction for technology, in contrast to just making a quick buck!
ive also just this evening discovered food coin which seems like good use of blockchain also.
