Do the right thing: The Oceans
It's hard to imagine a world without the oceans as we know them. Yet we inch closer to that reality each day. Each day that we litter, we fish, we pollute, and we ignore.
As a "normal" human on this planet, it's hard to take a ton of responsibility for a problem the size of the ocean. I alone can't stop the overfishing, or the corporate polluting, or drunk Gary throwing his empties in the lake every Thursday night.
What I can do is help clean up some of that trash just sitting on our ocean and lakefronts, and remind you:
- Only 10 percent of large fish (tuna, salmon, swordfish, etc.) remain in our oceans today.
- We are on pace to have more plastic than fish in our oceans by the year 2050 (think about that).
- 97 percent of Planet Earth is ocean, this stuff matters.
Fortunately, we can still make a change. We can restore our oceans, we can clean up the mess, and we can thrive as a planet defined by our oceans.
