Even though I am not a big ice hockey fan I do like Wayne Gretzky. I especially like this quote from him. I would say that 99 percent of all athletes that succeed don't do it because they are the best physical specimen in the world, they do it because they just keep at it. Relentlessly they work for their goal, and they don't give up till they get there. There is nothing more powerful than knowing what you want and having a clear plan of achieving it.
I remember back when I was going to start High school. I had the alternative to do the International Baccalaureate program IB or I could just take standard classes. I heard IB would be very challenging and I was hesitant because the math would be rather advanced and also there was a class of economics.
Initially I was doing terrible for economics class. It felt like I had given up before hand. One day I got my test back, for some course we had, and there was a comment from the teacher; " I believe you can do better". The score was D by the way. I realized I hadn't even tried so how could I be successful?
I changed my attitude right there and then and I applied myself. As I came prepared to the class It started becoming a lot more fun. I was absorbing the information like a sponge. At the end of the final year we had the big exam. I got one of the highest scores in my school for the economics class. A class which I earlier was sure I wouldn't even pass.
It's funny sometimes what happens if we really try. If we throw the hat over the fence and we challenge ourselves. Most often then not we will surprise ourselves because if we apply ourselves and keep on trying without giving up I don't think there is anything to stop us from reaching our goals. How about you ? What thing did you try out, which you were insecure about at first, but that turned out to be a great way to find out your potential ?

Very inspiring text @dandesign86. We are afraid, what can happen, if we give it a shot. But actually, what can happen, if we don't give a shot is more horrible.
There is one fantastic story by Jim Rohn that I actually listened, alive in Munich, Germany in 2000, in Olympiahalle.
The story has a title: The Golden mine.
There was a peasant that was very poor. One day He went in his basement to look for something. As he was looking for, He saw something very light in the bottom of the floor. He came and he started digging. That was gold. Wooiw, Goold. The more he digged, the more gold was there. The deeper, he digged, the pure Gold was.
And He remembered his neighbour John. He must call him as there was enough gold for both of them.
He went there, and He called John: "John come, I found gold, a lot of gokd John. Our poverty is finished."
John was looking at him, not reacting in any way.
The peasant continued:" Come on John,; Gold brother, a lot of Gold. Take your shovel and let us dig."
John replied looking at him, very very mad : "Are You Crazyyyy. Do You know, How much one Shovel Cost ?"
What a fantastic story - just goes to show how different we react to opportunities!
