Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely

This words were told more than a century ago by Lord Acton. Are they still true today or we have improved our self since then?

History is the best teacher. And not just the events that occurred on some date, but the stories of the people. The great rulers and the masses. We should all read the past mistakes of other people and not repeating it. This is the way forward for humanity. And if one thing we have saw in the past is this.

Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

This has been repeated over and over again. People just can’t manage power. It is hitting them in the head and no matter how smart or good they are. Countless times we have seen people starting good and ending bad. On the way up, they have accumulated power and lost their ground and moral.
One can say that there are powerful people who remain human. Yes, maybe there are. But they need to have strict rules and follow them. Ask those people what their rules are? (Ideology) What do they believe in? And occasionally remind them of their own rules.
The people from the history books also thought that they ware ok. We are all humans and vulnerable. We need rules and reminders. Especially in the face of power.

Decentralized economy

This is what is great about the decentralized economy. It distributes power and give chance to the powerless. And I hope we will not repeat history mistakes here as well. This is just a beginning and even the big fishes here are not that big for the real world, except maybe Steem Inc :). But on the way forward be careful who do you give power, look into the value in those people and remind them of they own value. This all applies to ourselves as well :).

And if someone have enough power and is ok for his daily needs to the rest of his life, you should probably stop support him, even if he is doing good. There are a lot of other people who also need support. We don’t need this enormous gap between people that capitalism has created. Some gap is ok to have competition and creation on new ideas. But 1% of people owning more than 50% of world wealth is surely not ok.

This is good for the big fish as well. Because too much power put pressure on them, responsibilities that are just too big for a human. So they forgot to smile over time. Humanity most of it existence was living in small groups. Only in the past 4000 years we started building big societies, and in the last 100 years really big. Put this in the scale of 200 000 years of humanity. Evolution cant catch up with this, so we struggle with old brain and new society.

Maybe the past is a teacher, but people change, circumstances change, the civilization moves forward and develops, so we should not stay sticked in the past so much to learn from it, because in that case we do not follow the present moment... Still, we are vulnerable, as you say, and that won't change... So the best way is to take a little bit from the past and make it better in the present, regarding the circumstances...
I agree the part with the rules, in order to stay focused and follow your own path.
