Special Needs - What is FoxG1? What is Life With Luke?
What is FoxG1? That was phrased as a question still because we are still learning. Luke has been UNIQUE his whole life. He has had many labels. The schools and doctors have never known what to "call him". Is he Mentally Retarded (MR)? Is he Austistic? Nobody really knows because Luke does not fit the text book definition of anything. A year or so ago we had some genetic testing done. It turns out that there is a gene identified as FoxG1. When there are problems with that gene they show up as special needs. We were excited to get a "reason", a diagnosis. True to Luke's fashion he doesn't quite fit the mold of the typical FoxG1 kid. We took a trip to the Texas Children's Hospital in Houston to see if we can get some answers. Although we left with few solid answers it was nice to get another perspective from a well respected doctor that specializes in this type of thing.
For now... we don't know what exactly is challenging Luke, but we do know that we love him. Luke is truly a wonderful special person.

Luke is indeed a very special young man. He is willing to work in the garden doing what is needed, and he is great with the livestock. Good Job Luke.
