Between Respect for Liberty and the Cost of Unchecked Freedom,

Can anyone relate to the picture above?
Dear White People, a satirical film about black students at a largely white Ivy League university.

Sometimes I wonder why our world is characterised with lots of debates and arguments as to which race, ethnic affiliations or religion is better. Then, I conclude that without #healthy# debates on such topics the jar of intellectual varieties might be empty. Now, note the word healthy. We live in a society where my skin colour is equated with my thought process and reasoning ability, the world where the whites are considered superior against any metrics of comparison.

Martin Luther King (Jr) historic speech had this part engraved in my conscious mind, "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." This, in a way, set an agenda of who we are and how we ought to see ourselves.

However, General thoughts about differences that exist between whites and blacks includes but not limited to the following:

  • Only the Whites are educated/enlightened:
Last night I was asking myself these two questions: Who is an educated person? What does someone have to know in order to be considered an educated person? Then, I ask again:

    • Do you need to have an advanced degree in order to be considered well-educated?
    • Does it mean being prepared to join the workforce?
    • Are there certain books that you have to have read?
Although there are several parameters to look into in order to adjudge someone as educated, I think these 3 qualities should suffice.
  1. An educated person has the ability to think clearly and independently.
  2. An educated person has good judgment.
  3. An educated person knows how to learn.

Much ado about what race is more educated than the other because KNOWLEDGE has no colour, race or religion.

We sometimes say that some people are enlightened, but do we really know what that means? We might say that because they are kind, loving, and insightful. While these may indeed be qualities of an enlightened person, it’s hard to be sure unless we ourselves are enlightened because sometimes the mind is deeper than the red sea.

  • Only the whites are rich: The quest for riches transcends beyond racial boundaries and nature has a way to reward hard work. Since time immemorial, man has continued to strive for physiological needs, safety, love and self-esteem and self-actualization. Riches does not suggest building mansions and having the latest sports car, to most, it connotes happiness, contentment and been healthy. This is however why riches is not the middle name of any race, it only goes to whoever work for it.

  • The contribution to the human development witnessed more of the white input: The world has witnessed the birth of blacks and whites who have contributed to making the world a better place but am beginning to think that everything in the world is created perfectly, only that we have chosen to destroy the world with hatred and war under the guise of FREEDOM. Several people have infringed on the right of the next person to them on account of the quest for domination and superiority hence passing on the torch the young lad learning from his environmental classrooms. If the world has witnessed more development today, I think it's a joint effort of both race and the downfall of the world also lies in our hands.

  • Blacks are generally the wanna Be's: Someone who holds this assertion would have to substantiate his/her argument with evidence as against the realities witnessed in the white house. I didn't mention a name, right? lol. I personally think that blacks are as intelligent as the white and been a wannabe's is dependent on the self-esteem of individual personality. In view of this, i would say if you think you can be the best of what you desire, then you are right and if you think otherwise you are also right.

  • When the blacks make mistakes, it's their nature but when it's white, its an exception: Being imperfect is an integral part of man since creation. I find most sentimental such view as black colour stands for nothing than bad and vice versa. Every man should be held liable for their actions and inaction. There are over 7 billion people in the world yet an average Jamal is considered a potential terrorist while Joe would only be liable for missing a dosage of his medications haven committed the same crime as Jamal.

  • Understanding your views about life issues is predicated upon what part of the pie-chat you represent: Sometimes, the reason why some writers prefer to write under a pen name is to engrave a neutral and objective thought into the mind of an unbiased reader. The reader's debate on such thought in most cases is devoid of the racial affinity of the writer except otherwise. Where a writer or speaker disclose their original names for readers to see, it'll either means tow things:
    * The reader appreciate your thought irrespective of your name and colour
    * The reader chose to disagree with your view based on his subjective mind

*Everything is perfect in Europe, America, Asia safe for Africa: The last but not the least is when an average African thinks leaders outside the chores of his continent are smart and intelligent people who have a long-term plan for their country and people. The truth is he is right to hold that view and he is also right to believe otherwise. We have witnessed the worse leadership in some of these continents still. The crux of credible leadership is not in the colour but in the character of one's personality. No leader can be adjudged credible without a sound knowledge of what the people want. Corruption in Africa is as epidemic as it is everywhere in the world.

In conclusion, I have discovered that what brings us together as man far outweighs what divides us. Living by few natural rules which includes but not limited to the following guarantees a safe and a promising future.

  • To make the world a better place, change yourself before changing others.
  • Tell and live by the truth no matter who and what is affected
  • Show kindness, love and mercy to all
  • Respect anyone anywhere anytime
  • Be gentle on everything around you
  • Love for your neighbor what you love for yourself

Live and let's live!
PEACE
