Personal Time Management - Deciding to Make Decisions Faster
I want to share a quick video with you about personal time management, specifically about decision making.
An easy method I use to find ways to save time is to think about stuff that I do multiple times a day or a week. One thing you do on a daily basis is making decisions.
You make hundreds of decisions each day. Most of them happen in a split second, others take a few minutes or even hours. 99% of the decisions we have to make are without much risk. Basically, whatever you decide will not drastically impact your life.
Think about decisions like what to eat, what to wear, whether you should call someone or not.
Or think about making decisions when you’re in a group with other people. Easy stuff suddenly becomes even harder. Which direction should we take? Which restaurant shall we have dinner? What time shall we meet?
Why is it that we sometimes take so long to decide? Analysis paralysis? Some form procrastination? We know the impact of most choices will be limited anyway. It is a huge time waster!
Personally I challenge myself to make decisions fast and I would like to encourage you to do that as well. Especially in groups it can take ages and a group as a whole can very indecisive.
So, next time you find yourself in one of those indecisive group situations, try to take the lead and decide for the group. It saves everybody a few minutes and some frustration.
That is what I have for you today!

You are really good at time management. I mostly manage my time by writing down things i want to do the next day. Then i prioritise them over anything else when making my decisions for that day. It also to an extent helps me make fast decision. But you gave an idea about fast decision making in groups which i think is really helpful
Great way of choosing and prioritizing as well!
Even when it comes to difficult and long decisions, they are taken in a split second. We only need time to convince ourself that it was the correct decision.
Looking back at decision which are taken in the past it are hard. Why? Because it is impossible to look back with the knowledge you have now. Remember decisions taken in the past were taken with the knowledge from then and not with the knowledge of now.
Very true indeed. Our brains convince us after the fact that the decision was the right one :-)
Good points :) One way I kill procrastination is by doing the 5 sec rule. Have you heard of it? Keep up the good work. Best wishes. - @splendorhub
A friend of mine actually told me about Mel Robbins' 5 seconds rule and I do use it sometimes. Could be more often though. I might cover it in an upcoming video :-)
I did a post on that topic. Keep up the good work :)
I'll check it out :-)
We already know the answer...we just don't admit it!
That indeed is often the case!
Group decision making can be agonising as no-one wants to take the lead and risk making the wrong decision. Just taking the lead as you say is the way to go as it at least makes a decision or will prompt others to object and make a different suggestion if they feel the need to (those who might otherwise have stayed quiet for longer).
Strategies like this cut down wasted time which I think we can all agree on!
I think I may be in need of time management soon. This new job is killing me, working 10 day hours or more despite it theoretically being part time! I don't have time to blog! Argh!
I can tell it takes a lot of your energy. I could not imagine working '10-day-hours' ;-)
Jokes aside, I do see your posting frequency is down a bit. Hope the new job gives you the right energy though!
You nailed it on this one. I'll definitely try this thought. Thank you!
It is one that requires some discipline and constant awareness though, but it becomes natural after a while!
Good one!
good tip, waiting for more! good luck
Thanks!
Thank for your post
