Even A WHALE Can Be Grateful .. Why Can't A Man Do The Same ?

When it comes to gratefulness, we humans are a little hesitant. We never say thanks for the simplest of courtesies offered to us by other people.

Say for example - A person was eating dinner at a restaurant and by mistake a spoon fell off from his plate on the ground. Now, the server came to his table and picked that spoon from the ground and put it on the table. Instead of saying a polite thanks for the courtesy of server, that person didn't even look at him like he was made to do that job. I mean come on, a simple thanks can't decrease the respect that person's respect.

Now come to this story. This is about a whale, I mean a real blue whale, who got stuck in crabs trap and then rescued by rescue team and In the end, she gave them a little token of gratefulness.

Without further ado, lets talk about it.

It was actually a news article on the front page of leading magazine on 15 Dec, 2005 . A Blue whale had become entangled in a spider web of crabs trap and lines. The whale was 50 feet in length and she was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle a lot to stay afloat in the ocean. She also had hundred of feet of wire lines wrapped around her tail, her torso and even her mouth was tied by the wire lines.

Luckily, a fisherman spotted this and immediately called an environmental group for help. Within few minutes, the rescue team arrived and they determined that the whale has stuck real bad. The only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her, which was a very risky proposition because one slap by the tail of that Blue whale could kill a rescuer in an instant.

They worked for hours with knives and harpoons, eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers said that she swam like in some happy circles. She then came back to each and every diver, and nudged them, pushed them gently around – she thanked them.

Some said it was the most beautiful thing happened to them in their whole life. Some said this thing has changed their perspective to see life.

The guy who cut the rope on her mouth said that she was even following him until he reached back to the boat. This experience has changed his life forever.

Now the question is - If a whale, which is actually way more bigger than a human being can be so much grateful for the simple courtesy, then Why human can't do the same? Is their Ego comes in between their kindness and courtesy or Is it something else?

Always be thankful for the simplest of the courtesies. Believe me, this will never become the reason of decreasing respect, rather it'll give a boost to your respect and your personality as a whole.

Thanks for reading.

Hey there, a really nice and inspiring story I loved to read. It feels good to read about kindness in this strange days and I totally agree, that we as humans have somehow unlearned to be thankful and kind. I wouldn't say all of us, but there are really a lot.

What I personally think is that the problem lies within our whole system. Starting with the education in school, followed by the rude world out there meaning competition, hunting for a piece of paper called money.

We actually fight against each other, instead of trying to understand each others problems to live a harmonized life together.

Everything that we send out, will come back to us in some way.

It's true, we have somehow forgotten our natural instincts.

Totally agree with you @n3bul4. Thanks for the appreciation though.

Animals are more graceful than human beings, and we still consider ourselves civilized and with superior intelligence... I wonder, is that really the case??
