Lake Cave Exploration; Perth, Australia
Western Australia, is famous for their caves that are centuries old. The main 4 caves, that are major tourist attractions are called: Lake Cave, Mammoth Cave, Jewel Cave and Nigilgi Cave. I decided to explore both the Lake Cave and Mammoth Cave.
Here are some pictures from the Lake Cave expedition:
The first cave is explored was the Lake Cave, as they say its the most beautiful cave, and the only cave that has a body of water inside. The light reflections from the water make for a spectacle to behold.
The Aussies, have set up information centers next to each cave, that sells merchandise and to educate the public on the history of caves:
They even act as a "mini-museum" that house some of the artifacts that was found in the respective cave:
The mouth of the cave; we had to walk over 400 flights of stairs down to get into the cave:
The structure of the cave took centuries to form, apparently the Lake Cave had a massive earthquake that created the massive bunker- which then became a cave.
Inside the cave, because of the body of water, you can see beautiful reflection of the stalactites:
How stalagmites are formed, when calcium filled water drips from the top of the cave (from rain) all the to the floor of the cave:
The view from the back of the cave:
Thank you!
Extraordinary... Really really astonishing. I guess that would have been such an adventure. Just to imagine the history behind those formations, the immense and silent chambers... Awesome photos, thanks for sharing! Really enjoyed.
