Uttar Pradesh Board of High School and Intermediate Education is expected to release the dates for 2018 board exams on October 27, 2017. The exams for classes 10 and 12 are expected to begin from February 6, 2018.

Normally, the dates for the UP board exams are released in December but this time Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma asked the education department of UP to release the dates soon, so that students can start preparing for the exams early.

Secondary Education Director Amarnath Verma said "last academic year, around 30 lakh candidates appeared in the high school examinations and the overall pass percentage stood at 81.18 percent while about 25 lakh students appeared for intermediate out of which 82.62 percent secured the passing marks."

Last year the board exams of UP board were delayed as elections to the Uttar Pradesh legislature was declared by the Election Commission of India. The elections in the state were held from February 11 to March 8.
