RE: How to save money on your electric bill

in #life7 years ago

Hello, @burgundiilane,

That is a great and very useful tip. I hope many readers see it and benefit from your suggestion.

I'll add a little commentary. I used to do this many years ago. Eventually, your circuit breaker may fail. However, the cost of replacing the circuit breaker is going to be considerably less than your savings on power.

There is an "inconvenience cost" especially if you have multiple people in the household, but as you've pointed out, it doesn't take too long to get the water back up to temperature.

If you want to go "whole hog," you can add a timer or a remote control to the circuit. That way, if you keep a regular schedule, you can have the water ready and hot when you wake up, and have it automatically shut down after you leave for school, work, or whatever.

Thanks for a great post! Welcome to Steemit, and best wishes here!

I agree with @creatr, this is an excellent tip @burgundiilane. Thank you for sharing this with us. I switch off all the sockets in my house at night but it never occurred to me to do it with the water heater. ;)

Thanks again!

Oh thank you for sharing that information. I definitely appreciate it. Especially the timer, I will look more into that as well. Luckily for me, I am able to keep the power off longer periods of time because even when it is very hot the water that comes thru the tap is still pleasantly warm without the water heater being on. I imagine probably because I have a water system sitting dead center of the rays of the sun on the side of my house. Just me guess. Thanks again.

You're very welcome, friend.
