More Obvious...

There was more to my visit with Captain Obviou3...
My head still spinning with the glory of his rooftop penthouse office, opening another door, @captainobviou3 once again invited me to step through.
The office is situated on the southeast corner of the rooftop. We were now out on the roof again, but this time on another (west) side of the office.

I felt pretty secure out there.
The entire rooftop is surrounded with a good, solid, adequately high railing that prevents you from inadvertently strolling off the edge and falling to your death.

The views are incredible.
We walked clockwise around the top of the building as I took in the breathtaking sights. Here you can see Tuna Harbor Park and across the harbor, the Naval Air Station on Coronado Island.

There was a good view of the USS Midway.
The USS Midway is a retired aircraft carrier that is open to the public (for a fee, of course) as a Navy museum.

An impressive new skyscraper,
the Pacific Gate, stands next door to @captainobviou3' building.

You can buy a "residence" there,
assuming you have the cabbage... Residences start at $1.1 million. So, yeah, when your crypto ship comes in, right?

How many windows are on the building?
I was afraid to ask... but they all need washing. Hence, the row of gantries behind the Good Capn'.

To the northwest,
San Diego Harbor and the Star of India, a tall sailing ship, are readily visible. That's San Diego's Lindberg Field in the background.

Would you ride in one of these?
I would love to take that ride! Hmmm... there may be a little training involved, ya' think?

Captain's building is on the opposite corner of One America Plaza.
From here, you can see the top of that San Diego landmark.

It is also just south of the Santa Fe train depot.
Constructed in Spanish Colonial Revival style, it boasts a traditional red tile roof. Seen from the top of the tower, it makes me think of the model train sets of my childhood.

The Coronado Bay Bridge is visible to the south.
It used to be a toll bridge, but is now free... I guess it was finally paid for?
A little fact checking tells me that tolls paid for the bridge bond issue... and then kept on paying for another sixteen years! Isn't it funny how these guv'mnt programs work?😮

And the tour continues!
Here's @captainobviou3 himself, ducking into the Machine Room. Our stroll around the rooftop over, it's time to look at some of the more serious "bones" of this building...

Stay tuned!
More of my exciting tour with @captainobviou3 to come.

Blooper Reel!
For some reason, the Steemit image saving program and the meta data in this photo would not cooperate, resulting in the following two slightly off-kilter photos:

P.S. If you have an "in" with anybody at Steemit, Inc. - Would you please ask them to get rid of these damn, extremely annoying "off-website" arrow/boxes? The have, overnight, made Steemit ugly. There are much better solutions.

You are why I'm here on Steemit!
I have very eclectic interests and hope, over time, to write about them all.
There's got to be a better way to keep dust off those windows - we should ask the Martians - they keep the Rovers' solar panels clean (miraculously) ...considering the dust devils and Martian sand storms. Yep, there's a better way.
I would love to ask the Martians... because that would require me to visit Mars.
While I'm there, I must take several extra days to go spelunking in some of the more prominent lava tubes... :D
BTW, the last photo before the blooper reel should be in the reel - you revealed your identity reflected in the window. Not liking the hat though - should be a baseball cap (not with Make America Great on it - but something like: Government is best that governs least) LOL!!
So, I don't consider that ghostly reflection sufficiently revealing to be concerned...
I wear many hats, though that is my most common style. I also have a deer stalker, for example.
And if I had a saying on a hat, it would be something like: "That government is best that does not exist." ;)
ha ha...but that isn't anarchism, my friend, it's the end result of Communism where the state 'withers away'. It's nihilism, or a true utopia, literally nowhere, lol
I should correct that saying... or perhaps just adopt the saying I'm told early American colonists used:
"No king but Jesus."
I like that :)
These are really amazing shots! Impressed!
Thanks for sharing @creatr.
Thanks.
Impressive photos and views. Yes a true friend accepts your shortcomings. You have been that to me. Thanks @creatr.
Beautiful looking your photography,
i appreciate your life. thanks a lot
for sharing this post. best of luck.
My palms get sweaty just thinking about being out there!!
Can you imagine setting a plane down on one of those!?!
You mean, on the carrier deck?
I understand that your life is pretty much in the hands of the signals officer... :D
Yes on what little deck there is!
Yes and the arresting cables!!
I'm sure I would be arrested if I tried to land there... ;)
Friend @creatr, thank you for sharing your visit to your friend in San Diego. The images that show are very good and reflect the good weather in California. Receive my appreciation
Wow! I definitely don't think I could deal with the heights, but the photos are dope! I'm glad you trust @captainobviou3 to not toss you over :P
The Capn's a good dude... would never do something like that! :O
Well, I don't know him! :P
What a view!! So much military stuff in that harbor.
Yeah... the view is spectacular.
And, yeah, San Diego is definitely a Navy town...
Very cool photo-essay. I love San Francisco; it's a shame that it's so expensive to live there.
Thanks to @ecoinstant, this post was resteemed and highlighted in today's edition of The Daily Sneak.
Thank you for your efforts to create quality content!
Thank you for featuring my article in The Daily Sneak...
But, this is San Diego... ;)
Just sayin' .......
So embarrassing! My brain is playing tricks on me. Must get sleep...
No worries... ;)
I don't know how many windows there are all together, but a fun fact is that there are 248 condos. Three years ago the existing windows started failing under warranty. We are in the long process of changing them out from the inside. We are currently about 70% complete.
So, what does "failing under warranty" mean? How does a window fail, requiring it to be replaced?
The windows are designed with two pieces of glass with a thin layer of gas in-between. The seal that holds the two was leaking in-between the pieces of glass giving the impression that they were oozing. And some were leaking in heavy rain.
Wow, sounds like an expensive warranty job! :O
