This playground equipment in my home town is very old. It likely dates back to the late 1950's during the heyday of space exploration. I have not done any research, but word around here is that this is one of the last Rocket Slides still in existence.
It is legendary around here.
Anyone who grew up here has memories of playing on it as a child. I am no exception. I recall my babysitter taking me and the other children here when I was five or six years old. It certainly hasn't changed much, and it has endured the decades of weather and use very well.
My family and I come here now and then to relax. Our older son loves it here.
The baby doesn't know what to think about the Rocket Slide yet. He's content sitting in the grass and babbling.
The older boy just likes acting silly, as five-year-olds often do.
This equipment is a treasure and a standing testament to the quality construction of the former years. Today's plastic playgrounds probably won't last more than twenty years, while this steel and fiberglass relic stands strong.

Steemit has seen major changes since I joined last summer. Many users have risen through the ranks and are now legendary in the amount of Steem they hold and their reputation. I have grown more slowly than many of the others, because I like to post about nature, family, and other simple things, which rarely make the trending page. I do write posts now and then about crypto investing, but my heart is in the finer things that make life enjoyable. Follow me for more content like this. Strangely, there are less of these around, as well! Maybe they took off to nearby inhabited planets, so alien kids could enjoy them too? :)
