Humans have a tendency to rely on habits, repeated trains methods of accomplishing a task without thinking about it. After all, habits are very efficient.

Many of us have goals that we are working toward each day. Whether it’s making enough money to survive until next week, or starting a charity to build organic farms, the majority of us are facing a challenge.

Challenges are filled with unknowns, surprises, ecstasies, and fears. Our habits are naturally built around our basic survival instincts (which are often outdated). As technology advances at an exponential rate, our habits must also adapt, or we will be a horse and buggy fighting for spot on the freeway.

To improve, we must step outside what we know. Unknowns must be faced.

I now ask, how am I supposed to step outside of myself if I reside in a constant sober state. Granted, moods change with the daily current and meditation can bring us out of unconscious living. Yet, there is a limit to possible biological compositions in a sober state (unless we can alter our internal organism with the power of thought).

If we want to improve, you have to open to the new.

Drugs can be dangerous. Yet they also give humans the ability to experience remarkably unique states. When used responsibly, drugs can heal us, solve societal problems, unlock new possibilities for fulfilling lives.
