What I learned today from my son @Exyle and why I changed my profile photo
Today I had an appointment with @exyle. You may wonder why or why I have to make an appointment with my own son.
I will tell you.
My son Mark (@exyle) has a busy schedule and a busy social agenda. He always (almost always) makes time for me when I call him or ask him to help me via TeamViewer. But now I wanted him to come over for a couple of hours and help me with some computer problems and some other questions I had for him about crypto, the blockchain, I-cloud, buy or sell Bitcoin or Steem, my profile photo etc.
So I made an appointment. He and Bianca came over for lunch and I made a special lunch for them.
After lunch, we sat down and he showed me to do some things I didn't do myself, but let him do it for me until today.
So I learned to use busy.org, to buy (or sell) bitcoin and steem, to send my documents and photographs etc. to the cloud, and how the steem blockchain and steemit.com / busy.org were connected. He learned me what some tags mean (f.i. kr / cn / meme etc. I was laughing a little at myself when he told me 'meme' was for young people and explained why!!
He told me a lot more so I learned a lot today.
I had listened to his interview with Terry Brock and I, like him, like to make my blogs personal. So I had decided to change my profile photo from Clio (the muse of history. As you may know, I am a historian) to my personal photo. I will still hold on to the name Clio, I like her very much!
So we looked at some pictures and decided on the one you see now in my profile. I hope you will like it, we did and it's more personal than the antique statue of Clio which I had as a profile photo.
It was a lot of fun to have Mark and Bianca here at our house in Rotterdam. We will stay in Rotterdam until the end of the year and I will share some stories with you about life in Rotterdam. It's so different from Burgundy France were we also live part of the year.
After three hours it was time for Mark and Bianca to go to the gym, but I will see them on Sunday because Sam, my grandson and Mark's nephew will be one year old.
Three big kisses for them both (the Dutch way) and there they went. Until Sunday!
I wish you all a nice day.
Clio
That truly is some quality time well spent! Nice profile photo!
You are right, it was! And thanks for the compliment.
But he didn't charge any money for the session, I hope?!
I paid him with a good lunch! (lol)
Wow! Nice get together among mother and her kids. I like your great love about your family. There is a proverb in India, when son come back from office, wife asked How much you earn?, son ask what do you bring for me ?but mother ask ,do you have your Lance? This is the love of mother. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful post. Happy steeming ma'am.
Thank you so much, what a nice proverb you quoted!
Good to see that you're making progress and learning and you have a great teacher!
Yes, I surely have!
It is wonderful to have sons who are excellent in the technical world. That was a little before my time and things change so quickly with technology. You aren't the only mother who has to make appointments with their sons. The young people are always so busy...Enjoy the Birthday party for Sam. Having grandchildren is the best!
You are right, I also hear this from my friends. But I don't mind making an appointment with my children. I was also very busy when I was younger, so I know the problem, there's always so little time!! But we know we can count on each other, and that's what counts, isn't it!
Lovely post! My son @deanoza got me onto steemit, but lives a 6 hour drive from us :( Good idea, will make an appointment for a steemit lesson next time he visits, hard to learn via whatsapp ;) Gorgeous little grandson, sure you treasure the Sunday visits!
It is a good idea, really. Then he knows what is expected of him and if he is as enthusiastic as my son, he will be glad to do it. It 's always good to say it in advance if you want a child to do something when he or she visits you.
A six-hour drive is a long drive, in my country you can cross the whole country in six hours, from south to north!
I surely hope you see your son regularly.
He is super helpful, and we try and visit to and fro from time to time but not often enough, started a guesthouse after retiring from the corporate world; loving the new 'job' though :)
When your children are happy, you are happy too, is my experience! It is, even more, the other way around, when they are unhappy.........
I love getting together with my grown sons too :-) Great that @exyle gave you a lesson - I might have to make an appointment with him as well since I, too, still have never bought or sold steem and I am still not sure why I should (or shouldn't) use busy.org!
And on a final note...your grandson is adorable!!!
It's great isn't it to come together with your grown children. To buy steem is more complicated than I thought. You can't buy it straight away, but you have to buy it with crypto like bitcoin. So it's a good idea to ask advice first. I do hope you have somebody who can give you advice. I only bought till now, not sold. I believe this platform has future and until now I only had good experiences. Especially the contacts you build with people all around the world are an enrichment.
I think it has a future too! So far, I've just been earning steem and have avoided buying. I think I'll just hold on to it until the price goes sky high! (let's hope!) and then get the advice.
In the meantime, it's been fun posting and, I agree, making contacts with people from around the world :-)
You have a wonderful son my friend! It's great to have an expert in cryptos showing you around.!
Love that first pic where both mom and son are smiling! Beautiful!
I have a lot to learn about SteemIt! Lucky you have a son that is knowledgeable in explaining things and guiding you!
Your family sounds so wonderful!
