Red, Red, Red. But what is really important!
I read today that many people are worried about all the red digits of the cryptocurrencies and the decreasing share prices.

Of course, it is not fun to see all those red figures.
But, why worry so much? After all:
You have followed the rule never to invest more money than you can actually lose;
You know, what goes up can come down and the other way around;
You are in for the long run with most of the money, so you only have to hold;
If you followed rule nr. one you can still buy some bread and something to drink and pay your mortgage (if you have one) or your rent.
But, truly, there are so many more important things in life.
I know it sounds like a cliché, but I mean it. Why?
Because just a couple of years ago I feared for the life of my husband. He had a severe heart attack in France and could not be moved to the Netherlands because he would not survive the trip. I was still in the Netherlands, I worked full-time at my school as a Principal. When I got the phone call and heard what happened, my heart (also) almost stopped.
Maybe I will tell you the whole story later, but at that moment I learned what real worries were. You don't think for a moment that in the days that followed I thought at the price of my shares (I had no crypto in those days) or anything else but the condition of my husband.
He survived and he is reasonably healthy, thank God, but that day I learned a lesson I will never forget.
The health of your loved ones is the most important thing in the world. If the life of someone you love is threatened there is nothing else that matters, certainly not the decreasing prices of crypto etc.
So, please, try to see things in perspective. Kiss your wife or your husband, your child or whoever and be happy that you are alive, that your loved ones are alive and (as I have said earlier in a post): "go to sleep and wait, worries are for the moment when there are real worries".
Have a nice day,
Clio
I am absolutely agree with you dear @clio. There was a song by Dire Straits (Mark Knopfler) "Money for Nothing" when I was young, while working hard nights and days as a journalist, and I was listening this song but I couldn't realize the real meaning of it until I lost my father. And after my children born, I really understand what that means most, even my kids get cold! Money is important but there are lots of thing more important then money, especially the health. I am glad, your husband recovered. I lost my dad by heart attack and I was working in the UK, and I couldn't catch the ceremony. Which I still feel bad about it after 18 years, and no earned money could recover this. Stay healthy!
I also remember that song very well. Mark Knopfler playing the guitar was quite something and immediately recognizable. I can understand why you only realized the real meaning of that song after your father died. Being in the UK and not been able to attend the ceremony must have been very hard for you, and, you even said, it still gives you a bad feeling.
A good health is something amazing, I hope you and your family are healthy and will stay healthy.
You are so right @clio! There are so many things in life are more important. When my husband was lying in the ICU in hospital, I wasn't thinking of anything but his welfare and that of my family. Nothing else mattered. So too now, the red doesn't worry me. I'll just sit it out and see what happens.
Yes, In those circumstances, your world becomes very small. It is indeed only about your loved one and your family. The rest seems to fall away. That feeling, what is really important, stays with you, also later.
despite having 2 days, I still want to comment on blog clio. This hazard must be prepared to face various problems. the important thing remains a smile even though a thousand problems. the best medicine is a smile
Following the rule no.1 is very important in making any investments...
Thank you for all your comments. I am going to follow you too from now on.
A very positive post, my friend and all those rules that you listed are absolutely correct for investment, a person must soberly and coolly approach to investing and counting all the risks! Well, it's about work, and in the rest of our life we all have to just stay human :) Thanks Clio for the wonderful post!
The bubble was bound to burst at some point, much like the Stocks right now. Scaremongering is all over the news and social media. They bounce back, they always do.
And you are right, health is wealth. All the best
I agree with your statement: health is wealth!
Health is wealth, we have a saying in England "spend it while you got it, you a long time dead"
That is a very true saying!!
Its all in perspective in the end...what a story with your husband wowww, scary!
And what you say, if its a sideproject, it shouldnt worry you too much.
Im happy I can easily close the laptop on these slaughterdays and just easily wait out until better days are here again.
Health and love, thats what its all about in the end!
Health and love is indeed what counts.
I was once walking passed a Newfoundlander who's been drinking and asked him how he was, the slurred response sounded something like. 'tis ide o da sod'
I asked him what that meant. After some laughs, when translated to English, he had said "I'm on this side of the sod."
If you (and your friends/family) are alive and have your health, nothing else really matters.
[Especially if you followed @clio's 4 rules for crypto sanity] :-)
I couldn't have said it better!
