Lost In Translation

Communication is truly an art.

There is extreme value to clear communication.

Have you ever finished a conversation with someone and have absolutely no idea what was just said or end up more confused than when you began??? #Frustrating

The art of communication is truly lost.

Folks just have terrible communication skills. It all begins with listening. Listening is not the same as hearing. Listening involves thought as well as comprehension. So, the first step is to shut the hell up and listen...pay attention and not think about what you're going to say next. Then, be able to actually understand what the person is saying to you. Sometimes it helps to repeat what was just said back to the other party. This added explanation technique personally helps me gain true #clarity.

Text and social media often ruin communication as well.

Folks can't type! Folks can't read! Then no one bothers to communicate in person so all gets lost in translation and context. The worst is when folks just don't say what they mean. Dancing all around their words. #LostInTranslation #FailureToCommunicate #EpicFail

We have to try and do better.

Half of the relationships between our friends and family could be saved or at least resolved if we took the time to communicate openly and clearly. The only way for that to successfully happen is when all parties involved are committed to doing so. Communication doesn't have to be flamboyant, extremely colorful or even overly academic for it to be effective. It just has to be real. I think that the true art to communication is #simplicity.
