Stewardess of Mandatory Shelter in Aceh, Aircraft Flight to Aceh Served by Male Crew
SERAMBINEWS.COM, PETALING JAYA - Low cost airline AirAsia says it will operate flights to and from Aceh with male cabin crew.
This effort was made after the obligations of the Aceh provincial government related to the use of hijab for all flight attendants from and to Aceh.
Quoting the media The Star Malaysia, Thursday (01/02/2018), AirAsia states understand the rule. Also AirAsia is committed to ensuring its operations in Aceh comply with the rules.
"All AirAsia flights to and from Aceh will be operated by male cabin crews," AirAsia said in a statement.
On January 31, 2018, the Aceh authorities sent letters to Garuda Indonesia airlines and other airlines, including AirAsia and Firefly.
In the letter, it was stated that all flight attendants from and to Aceh should wear the hijab.
Firefly CEO Ignatius Ong said it was considering operating a flight from and to Aceh with a male cabin crew.
In addition, Firefly also consider changing the stewardess suit in accordance with sharia law.
"We are still reviewing the current situation so that no decision has been made yet," Ong said.
AirAsia and Firefly are foreign airlines operating flights to Banda Aceh
