Čačak town- Special place to be born in
There are a lot of places all around. But, the place you were born in is always unique. One of them is my home town in West Serbia- Čačak. So, I would like to represent it with few words...
The town is located 145 kilometers south of Belgrade. The closest border is with Bosnia and Herzegovina. The city occupies an area of 636 km² along the western Moravian stream, surrounded by the Vujan Mountains (857m) in the north, Ovcar (958m) and Kablar (885m) in the west and Jelica (929m) in the south, while in the east it is open to the royal basin.
Old name for Čačak is Gradac. In the 12th century it was ruled by the brother of Stefan Nemanja, Stracimir Zavidovic (1168-1189), who built the church Moravski Gradac, which still stands in the center of the city. It was renovated in 2011.
Čačak is under this name since 1408. From 1459, when Serbia fell under Turkish rule until 1867, Čačak was part of the Ottoman Empire. The exception is the period from 1718-1739. when the settlement was under the authority of the Habsburg Monarchy.
The city was also the main pillar of the battles in the Second Serbian Uprising in 1815. Two years later, Serbia gained autonomy and 61 years later it gained independence at the Berlin Congress on 13 July 1878. Since 1882, Čačak was part of the Kingdom of Serbia, from 1918 to 2003, part of Yugoslavia, from 2003-2006. part of Serbia and Montenegro, and since June 5, 2006 part of the Republic of Serbia.
The town has a rich offer of cultural content. During the theater season, there is a host of numerous theater troupes from all over Serbia in the Cultural Center. Exhibitions, as well as various performances, cultural and literary evenings are also performed in the gallery "Nadežda Petrović" and "Risima", the National Museum, Photo Gallery, Inter-municipal Historical Archive, the City Library Library.
The artistic and sculpting colonies are held mostly in Ovčar banja. There are numerous cultural, artistic and entertainment events in the city and the surrounding area that attract a large number of fans of ethno culture, original folk music and other accompanying contents...
Najlepsa kolonija u kojoj sam ucestvovala do sada je bila upravo ova u Ovcar banji. Odlicni i divni domacini na celu sa gospodjom Vesnom iz KC Cacak. Imate se cime ponositi @cicadraza.
