SUNSHINE & ROSES
(INTRO)
The 14th of March 2013 was just one of those days for me. Not really great but also not quite horrible. I woke early in the morning, performed my morning duties and then went to class. The lecture was okay and I even laughed once or twice with my friends. I got home, had a nice nap then high tailed it to church after which I ate some noodles, did some light reading and watched one or two episodes of drop dead diva. So the ultimate question is this? Why did I feel so angry and unsatisfied with my life? Why did I think my day was crap? Why couldn’t I go to bed? The question went on and on but the answer came to me and it revolved around one thing: “relationship”. Surprised? Yeah, me too, but let’s be frank. It’s not life that is the proverbial bitch; it’s simply the people in it.

The ones that go on and on about how much better they are than you, that collectively snicker behind your back like you’re some form of big joke, that use their higher position to make you feel like you’re a piece of trash they can’t afford to wipe their shoes on. That you are not wanted and you do not belong. Unfortunately, these guys are everywhere. They are in the colleges. Remember that big mean bully that always picked on you, or the group of super model class girls that had no other job than to make your life miserable. These bad guys are even in the church, I mean we all know about self-righteous Mrs. Perfect that always reminded you of how very perfect her life is and how in contrast you are definitely hell bound.

Oh and believe me they are in our offices, even those nice glass plated ones with marble tiles. And though we probably don’t want to hear this, the reality is that yes, they are at our homes. So the bottom line is this, how can I deal with the B guys, how can I feel good about my life, about myself?
This series is going to answer those questions but let me just clearly state here that the reason I felt like crap that day was that I was waiting for others to make me feel good about myself and that I realized was my big fat mistake. Love, you should ABSOLUTELY NOT expect the man out there to stop being a self-absorbed prick. It’d be easier to find a rope and just hang yourself in your depression. The simple truth in life is that there will always be disappointments. The world will always be full of a whole lot of uglies so the first lesson to note here is that no man can make you feel good about yourself. So go get a good self-esteem, you’ll need one. There is only one being whose unconditional love for you is guaranteed and He is our God, our maker, creator, redeemer and friend and yes, He is the only one who deserves our trust because man will always be fickle.

Anyway, buckle your seatbelts and enjoy the ride. Hopefully, it won’t be too bumpy…
