Shower Thoughts | Life, Death and Simulations

This thought came into my mind after some discussions with some friends of mine about Elon Musk's idea of our reality being a simulation. And also, Rick and Morty.

What if at the end of our life, when he head towards the light at the end of the tunnel, we see a flashing red text in the middle of our vision "GAME OVER! Please insert another token, or choose another character."

I'm sure most of us relatively new adopters of a technology like Steemit grew up pretty nerdy and playing computer games. Even if you're not, I'm very sure you've played some form of computer games before. Some, if not most of you, would have definitely played a form of RPG/MMORPG as well, such as The Witcher Series, World of Warcraft, Maple Story, Ragnarok Online etc.

Think about the character you play in those games. Their knowledge, experience, and life is limited to within the bounds of the game. We would assume they are not aware of our existence and that any actions we make them do, become their own thoughts and decisions within the game. As much as we tell ourselves that they are just 1's and 0's in a computer, these characters still live a very colorful and fruitful life. I'm sure many of us had our heartstrings tugged when Cairne Bloodhoof died or felt the joy when a character we played ends up getting the boy/girl/Apache Helicopter he always wanted and living the life he deserved.

When we play as these characters, we become so engrossed into them and we empathize and sympathize with them. Sometimes, for just a few hours, we even become them. But then, when we finish the game, we wakeup from our temporary trance from the game and go on with our merry lives. A live of a higher being that has more understanding of "reality" than this game character we just played.

So, as our lives end. As we move towards the light. We wakeup from our temporary trance from this game we called "Life on Planet Earth" and go on with our merry lives. A live of a higher being that has more understanding of "reality" than this game character we just played on a planet called "Earth"
