Lazy

In its current state, lazy is the adjective I must absolve, both in practice and in theory. Is laziness about energy or outlook? The growth mindset tells us that outlook influences energy. So, then, lazy is a mental hurdle. Why try, when you know it’s going to be hard and you’re probably going to lose, at least at first? The ones who like challenge find it compelling. Is it about delayed gratification (patience)? Delay the reward for as long as you can without sabotaging your progress thus far. Keep hacking at the neural code of laziness and instead think of those mental challenges as seeds invested for long term return. Where is the intercept, where the inversely related challenge and intrinsic reward trends intersect? Find that point and measure your success based on the return, as opposed to being crippled by the risk (risk of time lost, hard work, and ultimate failure). Whether the ROI is emotional, physical, financial or otherwise, measure and graph your reaction to it along with your reported level of energy at the time. These time asset classes should be weighted according to your values, and invested in diligently. All the mundane, boring, difficult, confrontational, and other emotional responses to the competition of urgency and importance must be viewed as your value added, as a lead contributor to your ecosystem. Accountability to the fullest. Responsibility for yourself and everyone around you, too. Lazy is not an option when you measure your life in terms of what motivates you to actually demonstrate your value to the people you care about, especially when that includes everyone in the world.
