Experiences Are Still Materialism
Hey JessInstagrammers
As you may realise by now we humans are walking hypocrite machines. We eat, we poop and inbetween we spew out hypocrisy on such a mass scale that it causes climate change, sea levels rising, or whatever Grumpy Gretta and the rest of the SJW's have their tits in a ringer about.
There is not a single thing humans can't justify their ways out of, racism, genocide, gentile mutilation there's always some way to flip it on its head and make it sound reasonable.
Well done humans you have that going for you.
The moral high ground
I think I'm one of the few Millenials who are open to admitting I don't know shit, my life's a mess and well I'm pretty much okay with it. Every day I learn something new and every day my perceptions change as I do.
I don't plan to dig my heels into the sand after reading one article or watching some YouTube video and then making a stand for the rights of immigrant honey badgers.
The internet is known as the information superhighway and what do people do on this highway? Take the moral high ground and instead of using their turn signals they use virtue signalling.
None more so then these millennial travellers, who have bastardised what travel was all about into a shill fest for hotels, restaurants, brands and AirBnB referral links.

Humour the consumer
It's fair to say that most of the middle class wake up feeling like they got the long end of shit sandwich baguette and they're just powering through it and once you get to the end thats life. So we compete with one another based on arbitrary metrics to make ourselves feel better. Consumerism ins tangible and everyone can play as long as you have the money.
We compete with the clothing, cars, devices, homes, jobs, degrees and host of other shit we can hold to our names to make us seem as we've achieved something of merit or stature. Competing with one another in this fashion there's only one winner, the companies producing these goods that provide you with that feeling fo status.
It's safe to say not everyone can win at this game so they try to switch it up.
Materialism isn't always the physical product
So now we have a bunch of tossers who instead of buying a Mercedes decide to go on lavish holidays and spew this message of how its all about the experiences. As if they're don't care about materialism yet at the same time one-upping the traditional materialist.
It's almost laughable how obvious this is yet there's now a clique of these yuppie travellers who claim to be all about life and finding experiences but all they do is take picturesque images on location.
Travel is an acceptable way to display one’s utter fabulousness without coming off like materialistic douche. Even though these purchases made only by folks in positions of privilege. One may be an obvious way of displaying wealth but travel and social media are fast becoming the equivalent of a new diamond bracelet or a brand new luxury car.
The whole point of travel is meant to immerse yourself in different cultures, experience new places, try new things to meet new people and get out of your comfort zone.
It has become anything but, just another exercise to tick off the box and add to your social media account.
To fault your wealth, success and privilege.

You're referring to tourists, not travellers.
Travellers are those who actually respect the place the visit, hope to make something of it, learn cultures and how it all fits in to the bigger picture.
I have travelled with those people you speak of. 18-30 year olds who think they are travellers... But are actually tourists, looking for that instagram moment and I HATE IT!
The arguments I got in to with this entitled FUCK on one of the tours because she wouldn't respect the Aboriginal culture, heritage and territory... These guys don't want to learn, they want to take the same pictures everyone else takes to say they have also been there. Get over yourself!
There is a difference between travelers and tourists... Unfortunately there are a LOT more tourists than travelers... And you can spot them a mile off.
I don't instagram. I blog, educate and, hopefully, entertain with my travel blogs, as do a load of people on travelfeed.io (where the real travelers are 😉)

Lol, you hit it spot on, those who pull up their nose at things that are different and are really just looking for ways to show off how glamorous travelling is. Travelling isn't glamorous, ifs awkward, it's painful, it's tiring, it's exciting and a whole mixture of emotions if you do it right lol
It can be infuriating to deal with such close-minded people that think because they booked a plane ticket they are now cultured and a world citizen but want to eat McDonalds in foreign countries and never leave the hotel unless its to head off to places they saw on Instagram for a quick photo then back to the hotel
To them I say, let the local vendors rip them off and may they fall into countless expensive tourist traps lol
I travel for the experience and meeting new people seeing things and places I have not seen before etc.

Lol I travel so that I can find new things to eat and see some cool shit along the way, hardly ever post it on social media if ever!
This is gold. You killed it.
And you got me laughing all along.
Lol thanks, glad you enjoyed it! If my post can make one person smile or give them something to think about then hey it's done its job. Now, where's my internet fame and my pay rise?
