GCSE results day for my sister!

in #life7 years ago

Hello all, so I'm sure you'll all have heard, either from the news or from a family member or friend that today was GCSE results day. As with the A Level results day last week, today many nervous 16 year old's opened important emails that their future depended on.

My sister was especially worried, as her year were the first to partake in the new GCSE system which was supposed to be a lot harder than the previous years. She was very concerned that she wouldn't get into her first choice sixth form college, but I am proud to say that she passed with flying colors. She achieved 4 Bs, 4 As and 4 A*s and has got a place at Hills Road Sixth Form College, one of the best colleges in the country.

It seems so odd that my baby sister is heading off to sixth form. It feels as if it was just yesterday that she was starting in year 7 at secondary school. Time really does fly by. As we speak she's also writing her CV to apply for her first job!

As I have said many a time before: if you didn't get the grades you were hoping for, it's not the end of the world. A friend of mine failed ALL his GCSES and (after doing a couple of retakes), has gone on to have a successful career in aviation. Although they may seem important at the time, potential future employers don't really care much about GCSES, it's what comes after that matters.
