Wedding Chronicles - Preparing for the apocalypse

in #life9 years ago

So I am one week from getting married. And so far everything goes really well. I arranged the photographer, scouted the location and decided to get the rings from a smith who handcrafts them. She bought the dress and arranged everything else. And if any of you has ever watched "Bridezillas" you know that when I say "everything else" I basically say that all I was allowed to do was pick the color of my underwear.

And it will be a pink one. I will wear pink boxers to my wedding, one of those tightfit ones. I must say I am very proud of my choice since it will be the last thing I will ever be choosing by myself again. So I made it something to remember. Therefore a bright pink tight fitting boxer. It's all about perspective really. She has her moment all day. Basically the whole day is build around her. And I may be present since a wedding without a groom is kinda awkward. Basically I am invited to my own wedding. Lucky me!

I also managed to pick up my tailormade suit today. It really felt amazing to wear something that has been manufactured to fit you only. It was like a second skin was placed on you. And of course I really felt manly as a man can be. I'm getting myself a wife (Who still is in control but I wont let that spoil the idea of manlyhood).

Anyways, for me everything goes exactly as planned. No worries at all. The guests are well informed. The menu for the day is well known to us and there are no chances for suprises. Excpet one: Weather. As we are saying yes to eachother on the first of july (Next week's saturday) we imagined it'll be nice weather. However, my father-in-law decided to stir things up a little by forwarding us the predictions (Mind you, it still is 9 days ahead). He really knows how to ruin my day. He's not even a weatherman.

Instead of preparing for the wedding we are now preparing for the storm of the century. Forecast: Rain. Not a heavy monsoon. A drop left and right. 50 percent chance on that. We live in the Netherlands so nothing tropical really. The weather really is the least of my worries. Of course it will suck balls big time if it rains the whole day. I'm all in for nice sunny weather. But I can simply not worry about a forecast predicting 9 days ahead. They hardly can forecast what the weather in, like, an hour will be. Unless you're Yanet Garcia.

It doesn't matter really what she says. Like Ozzyman says: She'd make you approach te apocalypse with a "can do" attitude. But she did not predict any local weather for Maastricht on the 1st of July. She did not and therefore I am willing to make my own predictions.

There is a 50 percent chance of rain. BUT! There is a 50 percent chance of no rain either. All I really can do is prepare for my wedding as planned and we'll see the day itself what kind of weather we'll be getting.

Thumbs up for a sunny day
