Back in my "day", we would group people according to where they fit into our lives and their relative importance. You had family that were held close, Best friends that were with you through thick and thin, friends who were there but not s close as best friends, acquaintances who were people you knew but didn't really socialize with and finally neighbours. Companions were a whole other category. And you developed a link with all these people and these were as strong as the relationship. Nowadays you have people that have "a million friends" on facebooK. These are not frienss in the true sence of the word. Today they friends and tomorrow you "unfriend" them? Life has become very shallow for for many people.
