Two Muscovy Ducks Fighting
An ever-present scene in rural Bengal is the fickleness of domesticated animals and the squabbles between them. However, sometimes this ordinary squabble turns into a thrilling fight. The picture shows two sturdy Muscovy or Chinese ducks engaged in a fierce fight to show their strength. Usually, such aggressive behavior is seen among male ducks when defending their territory, establishing dominance over the flock, or during the mating season. During the fight, neither of them is willing to give up on the other. The sound of their huge wings flapping and the sight of them biting each other on the neck or wings with their strong beaks creates a different kind of excitement in the rural yard.
The two competing ducks are trying to defeat each other with all their might. The spread wings, the dust of the ground, and their aggressive posture prove how intense the fight is. The villagers—especially the children and teenagers—stand at a corner of the hill and enjoy this wrestling match with great curiosity. Although it is not a formal or artificially organized competition, it is still a primitive and natural law of nature. In the lazy afternoons of rural life, such duck fights provide a great source of entertainment and excitement, even if only for a moment.
