What is the connection between GODS and STATUES

You may ask yourself why ZEUS is pictured with a human body on a statue. He is the god of gods. However, he is looking like you or me on a statue...

Here is the question; if Gods is made up first or mythical stories by the human? High possibility before any religion people had their legends. An interesting thing in Greek mythical stories is all of the gods are told as human and they are having sex, having child, gossiping, trading just like a human...

What if not gods looking like us but we are looking like them?

When Zeus wanted to have some witnesses for his glory, he wanted to create something which will hail for him.
It was human and Prometheus was appointed for this. He gave the fire to humanity. But there was a problem, he gave god's appearance to human. So human was created as looking like gods. But it must be a man, not a woman. Because god is someone "masculine". Other gods were angry about this situation, in the end of story they created "Pandora's box" which has all bad things from gods. It was a bad gift with the love of other gods. It was kind of punishment for man. And they called it "woman".

Let's continue with our main subject now. Greek people had their gods and duties. They respected them, so they had to give gifts and reputation. Greeks started to erect statues which are learned from Eastern cultures. But it had to be perfect so if it is going to be perfect, it had to look like gods and masculine.
