A walk through a seashore in Saudi Arabia (Original)

in #life7 years ago (edited)

"When your siblings are as adventurous as you, there is no shortage of stories", I thought to myself as I passed through the gateway of Khobar City, Saudi Arabia.

Me and my brother @amju had covered the corniche (Seashore Park) and beach (Fanateer) in Khobar. We wanted to go beyond our city; frankly we wanted to travel. 100 miles from our place is a city called Al-Khobar, which is a port city and home to many beaches. It also shares its border with Bahrain, which is a GCC County. So our destination was set and we hit the road at dawn.

Previously, our journeys were quite short: lasting about 30 minutes or so. This time we had to travel about 100 miles and would take 1 hour plus. The journey itself was superb because it was almost a straight stretch to Khobar City with little deviation. I have heard that the road has answers to many questions. I did ponder a few thoughts and threw at it but silence is what I got. But even the silence, I felt, had deep meanings and answers.

We had chosen Al-Khobar city not just because it’s beautiful. I was talking about siblings in the beginning, if you recall. And yes we have our dear sibling residing in Khobar City and that is the first reason we are travelling to Khobar. He is working in Khobar city and was always telling us how beautiful Khobar City is and that we should definitely visit it. As we were nearing to Khobar City, we really got excited. Will the city be like what he described? Or will it be just like our own city Jubail. If it's same as Jubail, then we travelled this far for nothing.

Finally passed through the gateways and reached Khobar. It was a bigger city compared to our city Jubail. Tall buildings everywhere, shopping malls, hotels, beaches, parks, good roads free from traffic clutter; I have to say it's a peaceful city, even though it may seem contradictory. I and my brother @amju were quite impressed by the city. Whatever our cousin Nabeel has told was absolutely right; Khobar City is a must place to visit in Saudi Arabia.

We needed our guide Nabeel so we went to his place and picked him up and again set on road. I and @amju are fond of ocean and beaches, so we decided to go to Corniche (Seashore) in Khobar. We had previously visited corniche in our city Jubail; it was the perfect spot for jogging. We now wanted to find out what Khobar Corniche has in store for us.

As we neared to Khobar Corniche, two words came to my mind: "Peace and Quiet". There was nobody at Corniche: absolutely empty! Only me, my bro @amju and our cousin Nabeel. It was a beautiful place with beach, park and a great view, but no people were to be found. We were quite puzzled.

After a moment of surprise, we re-realized one fact of Saudi Arabia: it was 40 degree hot. Yes, it was noon and the temperature was 40 degrees. People would come only in the evening when the weather is pleasant. That’s why Corniche was empty at the moment. We were so thrilled by the journey and the beauty of the place that we had forgotten about the heat. That's the power of excitement and anticipation; Travelling definitely gives you both. And that's the reason why I and my bro @amju travel occasionally. Travelling gives you excitement, anticipation and most of all; inspiration. Travel recharges your mind and body. We are not just meant to live our whole life in a cubicle. We should always maintain a balance between work and life.

Coming back to our Khobar Corniche, it was like we had the whole place four ourselves. The place was simply beautiful. We felt like we had gone to a many carnival. There were swings, spring horses, and climber playsets. And besides all these there was the beach with its mild tides. The place was not that hot either. The breeze from the ocean was quite soothing and there were enough shades also. We couldn’t withhold the kids inside us; specially after seeing the climbing set and the spring horse. We gave both of them a try. Both were pretty strong and sturdy. We just wish there were more park itineraries.

Next we walked to the beach. The breeze was soothing indeed and view also was marvellous. We could also see a tower far away. We couldn't figure out that was. I guess that's a story of for another time. We came back to park and sat on the stone bench for some time; the breeze soothing our mind and soul. We could feel that our spirits were up, our mind and energy replenished. We had achieved our goal; we had achieved peace. Our journey doesn't end here; long way to go with places to discover and people to meet and cultures to experience.
