RE: Hugs Not Hits

in #life6 years ago (edited)

This post started a spam campaign by the author due to the fact that he did not feel he was properly upvoted by a promotional service which he paid for.

These screenshots are his "proof" submitted elsewhere that he paid almost $50 for a $70 dollar vote, but only received less than $40.

  1. The user used an outside calculation service that guarantees votes that the service itself does not. But that isn't the crux of the issue.

  2. The user is making a fundamental mistake of looking at the Steemit derived pending payout calculation. This calculation always supposes that SBD are worth USD $1 regardless of market value.

These are current screenshots as of this comment.

We can see that SmartSteem provided 94.8% of the upvote value of this post, which when applied to the pending rewards is 19.97 SBD and 6.61 SP.

@prometheusrisen is calculating his 20SBD bid at market value, but only crediting the vote rewards at a static value of $1 per SBD as displayed by the Steem blockchain, leading him to his huge misunderstanding. In his first screenshot we can see that his 20 SBD were being credited at a rate of USD$2.46 each. This same factor needs to be applied to his pending rewards. When this is done we see the true value of the pending SBD payout is $51.79 and the pending SP payout of 6.98 SP adds approximately $19 more value. This arrives us at $70, almost exactly what the user expected. Prior attempts by other users to explain this have been insulted and gone unheeded.

Without doing any math the user should be able to see that his post is already earning more SBD then he put in, and all of the SP is profit (approximately $19USD at current market value), entirely off of the strength of the SmartSteem vote that he claims was grossly underpowered.

Please flag any spam you see regarding this issue, and hope that this user sees his error and ceases his actions.

disclaimer - I have never used a paid voting service, have no interest in SmartSteem or ill will toward @prometheusrisen other than that I hate spam. I hope this comment may be in a prominent position to dispel any disinformation and if seen by the user, could end the aforementioned spam!

In good faith, I'm giving this post an upvote (which will now skew my prior analysis a bit, but it remains accurate) as @prometheusrisen has stated this post was intended for charitable donations.

I hope you eventually see this @prometheusrisen and realize @therealwolf did no wrong here, and has not even rescinded the paid for vote in light of your attacks. Hugs Not Hits.
