The ruins of Polonnaruwa
The ruins of Polonnaruwa are
scattered over an extensive area of gently undulating
woodland about 4km from north to south.
Kings ruled the central plains of Sri Lanka from
Polonnaruwa 800 years ago, when it was a thriving
commercial and religious centre.
