I'm A Trail Bug
While preparing for a vintage rummage market at my Recycled Gallery, I came across this collection of Australian Girl Guides, Brownies and Club fabric badges.
I love the cute little pixelated stitches, heralding from my childhood era. Maybe you have some of these too, or different ones from other countries?
The motto's are adorable and the images whimsical.
I was going to make something with all of them, but decided their nostalgic sentimental value was best retained as they are. I put them out on the shop shelves and have watched delighted customers rummage through the piles and select a few to take home. Lucky I took these photographs first as the pile is thinning fast.
It is a generation slightly older then me that seems to love them the most.
I always find it fascinating what people gravitate to in my shop. From old, worn, vintage, retro, pretty, raw and rustic - things catch different eyes.
I am a bit of a hoarder myself, but having the shop keeps things in balance for me. I think it is better that all these gorgeous things pass through my hands and on to someone else so they can really be treasured.
And I always have fun taking my photos.
In the words of the Brownies - thinks of others before yourself and do a good turn everyday.
Until next time,
xx Isabella

brings back memories of my scouts!
How wonderful that you have brought these back into the light. As a long term member of the international scout movement I know the value the we can place into these little prices of embroidered cloth. They hold memories of hard work , learning , friends and lots of fun. So many people have experienced how thing work outside their family environment for their first time in scouts and guides. That life is about service , teamwork, learning, living by values and sharing your knowledge. The scout Motto is Be Prepared.
I love how you said 'They hold memories of hard work , learning , friends and lots of fun.' Be prepared is a great motto too!
