I can’t write a blog today because I’m dying of the flu
Hey guys,
I know this is probably going to be a big disappointment to you all, but I won't be able to write a blog today because
I'm dying of the flu.
Sorry. I'm just too sick to swing a blog right now.
And I’m actually not sure what hurts more: Me dying of the flu, or me not being able to write you guys a nice blog because of it.
It really sucks that I have neither the physical strength nor the mental energy to tell you about the most excellent hike I had last weekend,
and about how invigorating it felt to be out there all alone on a cold cloudy winter day surrounded by frozen forest in the presence of nary a sound save those of my shoes making tracks in the untouched snow and my breath coming and going, coming and going.
It also really sucks that I’m dying of influenza.
This is such a bummer.
Honestly, I really wanted to tell you about the inspiring freespirited scenery I found all around me as I left the No Name trailhead near Glenwood Springs, Colorado, and made my way up a path that gradually turned from ice to hardpacked snow to substantial loose powder as I hiked higher and higher;
and about how I soon tired of postholing and decided to ditch the trail and bushwhack straight up the side of the canyon, which for some reason ended up being more difficult than merely postholing on an established trail;
and about how I was hoping as I slowly climbed that my randomly selected route up out of the canyon would bless me with an easy approach to the mesa above;
and about how my hopes were crushed when the rib I was ascending cliffed out at the base of an ice-covered outcropping bordered on either side by deep gullies that stole away all of my options.
But I can’t, because this flu is just killing me.
It’s only a matter of time before I’m dead.
And I think I’d rather spend what little time I have left putting my affairs in order and enjoying the company of acetaminophen, dextromethorphan HBr, phenylephrine HCl, menthol, and green tea spiked with honey than describing to you how I slipped and slid and danced like a madman down that canyon slope through the scrub oak and snowdrifts and over the buried rocks and boulders and finally out into the open at the bottom where the creek ran cold and the trail waited to whisk me back to where I started.
I’m sure it would have been a great blog, if I’d been able to write it.
Well, time for me to crawl into the corner and die now.
Dammit man, I really wanted to hear about your hike in Glenwood, too! Fuckin flu
Yeah, too bad that'll never happen. Thanks a lot, flu.
That green tea and honey, just to punish yourself on those last moments...
Yeah what was I thinking? I should have just chugged whiskey straight till I was dead. Probably would've been a lot quicker!
Well I'm sorry you have been afflicted by the flu, but I'm glad you managed to not write about your adventure and photos.
Yeah, gotta have your priorities straight, especially when you're dying.
I actually died last night, so the blog I won't be able to write today would have been about how I'm sorry I died and couldn't write a blog.
Ah, this is quite inconvenient for your blogging, I'm sure all your followers are quite disappointed.
If you were able to write it, it might have been the greatest blog you ever wrote. Too bad you couldn't. You suck.
lol
You are a star in my blog tomorrow, be sure to tune in ;)
What can I say, I tried my best and it wasn't good enough. I did a bad job. Now I'm dead because the flu killed me, and I won't be able to blog about that, either.
I'm looking forward to seeing what role I play in your blog! … I think.
