Borran's Beer Review: Brewdog Clockwork Tangerine
Hey everyone!
Today, I'm reviewing a Session-IPA called Clockwork Tangerine from the brewery Brewdog. Malts in this beer: Crystal, Pale and Cara malt. Hops: Ahtanum, Cascade, Chinook, Columbus, Mosaic, Simcoe. Clockwork is also loaded with tangerine.
Usually I like Session-IPAs, but I'm not sure about this one. I'm pretty sure the tangerine will give the beer a juicy effect and I don't think I'll like it.
Brewdog was founded in 2006 by friends James Watt and Martin Dickie. From April 2007 to November 2012, the brewery was located in Fraserburgh. In the fall of 2012, they moved to a new larger brewery in Ellon. It is Scotland's largest independent brewery. In 2006 they had only 2 employees and produced 105,000 liters of beer, in 2015 they produced around 13.5 million liters of beer and had 540 employees.
Late in November 2009, Brewdog presented a new beer called Tactical Nuclear Penguin with 32% alcohol, which was then considered the strongest beer ever brewed. The high alcohol content had been reached by freezing distillation.

Appearance: clear light orange color with a small white head.
Smell: tangerine, orange, hints of hops and malt.
Mouthfeel: medium body, medium carbonation.
Taste: tangerine/orange flavours, some caramel, very juicy, hoppy finish.
This beer has quite nice ratings and reviews on untappd.com but it's not really my cup of tea. I think it's the juicy taste that I don't like. In my opinion, Brewdog has far better beers than this one.
Stylish and neat beer can, Brewdog usually don't fail here.
Verdict: It's drinkable but not really my style. I will give it a rating 2.5 out of 5.

I have been a fan of Brewdog from way over here in Canada since hearing their story. Just doing a great job, entering a contest and being launched into expansion and fame. So good.
I was looking for the pic I took when I reviewed Punk IPA a while ago but the closest I could find is another beer in my Brewdog glass.
It is sneaking into Session IPA season for me and I am going to see if the local stores here will carry that. Hope it makes it across the pond!

Not really. I even live in a small town and can regularly find punk ipa on tap and in cans if I know where to look.
That’s probably my the only brew dog one I will find though. I will ask my guy to bring in the session one if it is available here.

Yup! I like bitter beers, but this one was even to bitter for me! :P
It seems to be a really complicated !BEER, with all that different hops added to it. That 32% beer is really a monster, I wonder how they achieved that % of alcohol!!
