Thanks to the commercials, citizens' apartments are filled with a mountain of unnecessary things, the latest models of cell phones bought under the influence of emotions and advertising. Businessmen and marketers want that the possession of a large number of goods associated with the inhabitants with happiness. They constantly use in the advertising of goods images of a happy family, exulting crowd and smiling children.

Constant shopping should replace people with love, devotion, mercy, compassion and other universal values.If there are not enough goods in your home that TV and the Internet offer, then you can not be considered an exemplary member of the consumer society. The man leading the ascetic way of life will always be the "white crow" among the shopaholics. The cult of consumerism is characteristic for economically developed countries with a high standard of living. People in Ethiopia and Bangladesh are more concerned about physical survival.

Against thoughtless consumerism are many clergymen. Religious morality and morality are incompatible with the infinite accumulation of material values. Unfortunately, many priests themselves are struck by the "consumer's virus". They live in expensive cottages, move on premium cars and collect big money from their flock.

Alliances of businessmen from the real sector of the economy are financial organizations. They offer citizens to buy any goods on credit. People take mortgages, car loans and consumer loans. They want to look rich and respectable. Borrowers will spend their entire lives working for banks and MFIs, giving them the last money.

The consumer race is encouraging economic development. The growing population of developed countries requires more and more different goods and services. Scientific progress allows creating completely new high-tech products. The development of information technology contributes to the acceleration of all business processes. The global digital economy can lead to an exponential increase in the secondary quasi-needs of people.

The commissioning of new production capacities will require a huge amount of natural resources. Uncontrolled consumption contributes to the destruction of the biosphere, the depletion of soil and pollution of the oceans. An endless consumer race can only be stopped by a global environmental catastrophe or war. Surviving people will finally think about their future and build a new model of society that will allow civilization to avoid total self-destruction.
