Amazon has launched a new delivery option in the United States, coinciding with the arrival of the Christmas season. At the moment it is only available for some select users, and is designed for Prime service subscribers only. It's called Amazon Day, as CNET points out that originally reported the news, and should not be confused with a temporary commercial initiative like Prime Day.

Amazon Day allows you to set a day of the week to receive all orders, or just some, made on e-commerce. At the time of writing the service is available on an unspecified number of accounts (probably not very high) and under invitation, however it seems that Amazon intends to expand the program to a greater number of customers already starting in the coming months. Users eligible to participate in the program in its preliminary phase will be able to see the invitation on the Amazon homepage, and will find the new option directly on the Cart screen without performing any operations.

The note issued by the company to overseas journalists is fairly standard: "Constantly Amazon innovates and tries to surprise and delight customers, and we are happy to test this new service that aims to make the delivery experience more convenient". The new option also optimizes the work for couriers: who knows for example that on one of the days a week is always available at a certain address can request that all deliveries are made on that day, but the order must be sent at least Two days before.

Those who decide to participate in the Amazon Day program can obviously continue to use the other available delivery options, which in many cases may be preferable. If the address area is among those where the deliveries are present at the weekend, moreover, it is possible to mark the Saturday as the preferred day for delivery. At the moment, Prime customers can choose the Amazon Day option primarily for products with delivery in two days, and can also serve to limit the company's logistical costs.

With the delivery in one day, in fact, all the weekly shipments will be sent on that day using a single "package". It thus becomes useful for orders related to "consumable" items, such as useful products at home that are periodically consumed. The news could also optimize the cash flow of the company, which in the last quarter has seen an increase in executive expenditure of about 2 billion dollars. And, by decreasing the number of shipments and boxes, the figure could be significantly reduced.
