Life in developing country vs developed country

in #life7 years ago

Developed nation is not the one where everyone travels by personal luxury cars, it is the one where even the rich travels by public transport.

Today there are more than 190 different countries in the world. Each country will have a different life style. Life style is highly influenced by the climatic conditions, culture, geography etc. One very significant factor which controls the life in a country is its development. There is a huge difference between life in a developed country against one in a developing country. Someone who has been born and brought up in one type of a country will be much surprised when they see life in the other ones. There is a huge difference in both of them.

One has to spend at least a month in each type of country to notice differences in lifestyle. Reading books or news, watching movies etc. sure gives a gist of the differences but nothing beats a real life experience in another country. I have spent all my life in developing country except for few months in United States of America. And I have seen major differences in life. Here is my first hand experience.

Mindset

Citizens in a developed country will have a much free mindset as compared to the ones in a developing country. In general people tend to live a very confident and bold life in countries like USA, UK etc. Pretty much every person is treated equally there. In developing nations it is not so straight forward. Sure citizens have freedom here too, but not each individual is treated very respectfully. Undoubtedly the rich are given a much superior treatment. Biased would be a much appropriate word to express here. And this is a game changer. The biased treatment leads to lack of confidence, restricted freedom, controlled boldness etc.

Economy

There is a major difference between economical states of developing vs developed countries. In fact economy itself helps decide if a nation is developing or developed.
It is difficult to stay poor in a developed country whereas it is very easy to become richer if you are rich in a developing country.
Economy in developed countries is favorable for a common man and they are very much favorable for a rich person in a developing country. It is obvious because the country needs money more than anything else and it is with the rich people.

Inflation

Inflation is a sustained increase in the general price level of goods and services in an economy over a period of time.
Developed countries will have a very low inflation rate as compared to the developing ones. As per numbers from some random website, average inflation rate for USA is close to 2% as compared to 5% in India. Lower inflation rate gives a sense of stability to the citizens. Owing to inflation many of them keep on chasing a safe retirement fund because it keeps on increasing as your salaries increase.

Government

Governmental policies are also much influenced by your existence in a developing nation pool or a developed nation pool. I personally feel that developed nations have much stronger and bold governments as compared to a developing one. A developed country can take decisions favoring the life of its citizens without influence of any other nation. This is not so easy for other governments. They can't take a stand in the world politics that firmly. The decisions in some or the other ways are dependent on other nations. The straightforward reason is because these countries are not self sufficient.

Corruption

Corruption is termed as dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery, often to acquire personal benefit.
I agree that corruption is a part and parcel of each and every functional office. It is natural human tendency to exploit the power for ones own good. However the level at which corruption happens is more important here. Developed nations too might have some corruption but it is not directly impacting the day to day life of citizens, but developing countries have corruption at much lower levels. A common man has to deal with a lot of corruption to get day to day needs fulfilled.

Social conduct

People in developed nations are much bold and free as compared to developing nations. People need society's help more than the government to fulfill their basic needs. Thus people in developing nations prefer to stay in a group, help each other and stay in harmony. It gives them a lot of backing by abiding to the rules of the society.
Governments in the developed nations are strong enough to protect or help the needy ones and individual doesn't need to rely that greatly on the society. So people can take bold stands to go against the rules laid down by the society.

Work habits, Innovations and creativity

Economical conditions in a developed country are much favorable than in a developing one. Thus an individual can earn a living very easily. Having said that, they have a lot of liberty to do whatever they are passionate about. It is easy to recover from financial failures because as I mentioned it is difficult to stay poor. But a chance missed or an age passed in developing nation may contribute to keeping you poor for the lifetime. And thus promising sources of income are given most importance than some creative or innovative ones.

Law and Order
law-school.jpg

Law and order is very strict, organized and sophisticated in developed countries. Pretty much 90% of the conflicts are handled pretty well and justice is given to the victims. In developing nations it is very difficult to obtain justice because most of the conflicts are handled at a local level with no unbiased authority. The one having more power will most likely be the dominating one in case of conflicts. And this is why people look for more social support because they need the society more than the government in case of conflicts and crimes.

Traffic

Traffic can be an exception but mostly we will see that the traffic in developed countries is more organized than the ones in developing nations. Safety, time to reach a place or number of vehicles can be less or more but you will still expect a organized flow of traffic in a developed country. Drivers will adhere to all rules and regulations because law and order is unbiased and strict. In other countries rules for rich and the poor are not common. Rich ones get an exemption very easily.

All the points mentioned above are pretty much interlinked and contribute to one another. All these points revolve in a vicious cycle to keep a nation away from development. It is very important to break the circle in order to rise. And unfortunately it takes enough time to break the circle and follow the development path.

It is not impossible to live in developing nation, because a person generally adapts to the surroundings in which he/she lives. But someone who lived in a developed nation once will find it difficult to live in a developing nation(unless they are rich in the developing nation). And thus the brain drain happens.

Disclaimer: Above mentioned are my personal thought and experience. The points may sound very negative but I am by no means an anti-national person. I have learned the art of living in a developing nations and soon to become rich with the grace of Steemit

It really all comes down to freedom and a firm rule of law.

Great post, I like to see the views from a person living in a developing country. So thanks.

Thanks @getonthetrain.
I have thought a lot about what can we change to make things better. But never got a right starting point. Like I said, its a vicious circle of cause and effect.
It has to happen slow. Every small bit of contribution will lead us to a better tomorrow. Like it is said, Rome was not built in a day

hey we are from same city. get in touch.

Sure man. Which part ?

Wishing you to become rich with the grace of Steemit and with some other legitimate online opportunities such as CryptTab ;-)
