The praying mantis
Today while on my way out, I came across a mantis; THE PRAYING MANTIS, a bright brown insert folding it's well fortified arms that are always ready to dismember any prey caught.
While they say love can break your heart, I was shocked to find out that for the male praying mantis it can eat them alive. During mating, the female mantis bites off his head and then devours his corpse for nourishment.
HOW THE MANTIS GOT ITS NAME
The mantis is known to be fierce and its known to be predatory. It catches other insects for food. A mantis is known to stalk its victim, these legs are held folded under its head. When it does this, it looks as if it might be praying, and this is how it got its name.
