Did you know that you have a Brain in your gut as well as something called the micro biome? Well you do and it plays a big part in your life whether you realize it or not.

Micro biome/gut microbes

Gut microbes make neuroactive compounds, including neurotransmitters and metabolites that act on the brain… So in a way you have aliens inside you who may be directing your actions and responses more than you think! These interactions occur in various ways: microbial compounds communicate via the vagus nerve, which connects the brain and the digestive tract, and microbially derived metabolites interact with the immune system, which maintains its own communication with the brain- this plays directly into flght or flight- rest recovery cycles. There is a potential that people you like and do not like are based more on your gut microbes preference than your own brain and emotions.

Fight or flight

You have heard of the gut wrenching experience along with other expressions like go with your gut and butterflies in your stomach. Well these all messages coming from your gut brain and micro biome to let you know that there is a potential threat or in some cases joy. This is also, why you may feel giddy around people you love or are attracted to.
In the fight or flight response which is stressful, the digestion is interrupted so resources are available to deal with the potential threat.
In healthy people, this response or feedback loop can be turned off and revert to normal once the stimulus is assessed or dealt with. This is when the rest/recovery phase comes back into play and normal functions resume. As stated above your micro biome plays a large role in this.

Chronic stress and its impact

Over time and if the stress becomes chronic, this feedback loop gets out of whack and the body physiology does not revert to normal. This is why stress, anxiety, and depression over time especially with no rest or recovery, have been linked to many psychological and digestive health issues. This is also a sign that your micro biome is suffering as well. So what can you do to get this feedback loop and your micro biome back on track. Destress- Rest – Laugh-get out in nature - use Cannabis- eat healthy and above all STAY AWAY FROM JUNK FOOD

Keeping your micro biome healthy by eating the following

Probiotics- broad spectrum
Lactobacillus rich foods like
Sour kraut
Kimchi
Tsukemono – Japanese pickle
Kombucha
Dashi with Miso

Cannabis

No mystery that the term MUNCHIES comes directly from the experience of the rest recovery that Cannabis is profoundly helpful with. Just make sure you are eating healthy probiotic rich food that your micro biome will respond to and not Junk food that will continue to negatively impact you.

Cannabis strain – Grandaddy Purp
Indica dominant
Great for relieving
Stress- pain -insomnia- depression and LACK OF APPETITE.
This strain in my opinion is great then for your micro biome and getting your gut brain back on track.
