3 Reasons Why the Prototypical Housewife is a Gift to Men Everywhere

Housewives: once the beacon of light for women across the country to follow, has now become the opposite - as though it were a black abyss threatening to engulf their livelihoods. Sure, the common stereotype associated with this is a slave to the kitchen, the bedroom, and her husbands drunken rage, but this is 2017. With domestic abuse being a HUGE no no these days, and Cosmopolitan churning out article after article about how to over complicate sex, we can thank the years that past generations have given us to tweak a few of those negative connotations. I'd like to take a moment of your time and highlight a few of the benefits of not only being, but being married to a housewife.

1 They are the family's anchor, and a stable one at that.

Lets think for a second: Say there were a family of 5. The husband, who provides income for the family, constantly working to put food on the table and smiles on faces. The three children, who are getting older, but not old enough to head to kindergarden yet. They are monsters, constantly running around, squabbling amongst one another needing constant supervision. Lastly, you have the wife. She's elected to stay at home, ensuring the kids are being looked after and prepared for preschool, keeping meals ready and making sure the husband has a safe place to come home to. She runs the show, carefully choreographing schedules to make sure things run as smoothly as possible. Now give her a 9-5 marketing job. Happy?

2 They build the community.

Be real. Dudes don't do bake sales. They don't insist on street signs being put in place, teachers getting fired, and they don't schedule play dates. But that's okay, it isn't their job to be. The responsibility falls on those who are actively involved in community affairs such as soccer games, and parent teacher interviews. While that's not to say the provider for the family can't be involved, if we were to look at things on a grand scale, we would see the women having much more community involvement than the males. And why might they be so involved? Hint: it isn't because they chose to be spinsters.57

3 A strong family unit is developed.

I'll go back to the example I gave in the first point, except this time both parents work. But what about the kids? Don't worry, with the supplementary income from a two paycheck family, they can afford a nanny! Why go through the hassle of actually raising your children in their most formative years, when you could just pay an immigrant right? Because they are not dogs, and this isn't obedience class. A constant familial presence in a child's most important years allows the maternal ties to form, and gives the kids a sense of unity in the family.
