I do think it is possible to become a trend. Your post just has to be very appealing so that many people will reesteem it and upvote it.
I came here from a comment you posted on @myperfectblog . It seems like you were surprised that she got on level 37 on her second day. And you asked her how she did it.
The thing is, i for example.. am also new to steemit.. this is my 4th day, i think. And on my very fist day I jumped from 25 rep to 41 . That I believe happened because my first post got also relatively popular and i got many upvotes from it. This is it , if you want to see it for yourself.
Now, if you click on my user name and go to my “profile “ you’ll find out that i am still on level 41. And guess what my theory is...
NON of my other posts were as popular as that fist one.. and have very little upvotes on them . Thats why i am still at 41.
So, i guess that yeah, as long as you get upvoted and reesteemed, ( specially by people who are already known and followed by many) there’s a big chance it would make your post “trendy”.

upvoting does not affect your reputation in a bad way. it does not take down form your actual number. What helps your number grow is people liking your posts and reesteeming them . because when they re esteem it.. there's a higher chance others will see it.
