A matter of balance

in #life3 years ago

How many hours per day do you spend in front of your monitor?
How much money and care do you devote to a car or your furniture?

It is likely that the time you spend looking the cheap plastics and brand names of your computer periphery is in disbalance with it's relevance to your life and the time you spend with it.

To me, it makes a surprising difference to start my working day looking at a nice picture frame hovering above my desk, rather than reading "Samsung" on cheap glittering plastics on an equally cheap stand made of plastic.

It was the great works of a Hungarian steampunk artist named Attila , that drew my attention to the disbalance between relevance / time and care spent on computer periphery. Do not bother ordering from him at the moment, the man is booked for months. But scrolling down the comments is definetly worthwhile and I guess his works will go up in prices soon.

The arbitrary desktop wallpaper is crap on purpose.
Do not let yourself be distracted by it.
In case you spend a significant amount of time of your workday looking at your desktop wallpaper, you really need to change something in your life.
And it is not the wallpaper.

Look around you.
Your hands are likely to be near cheap keyboard plastics. And and equally cheap mouse. You likely look at a frame of either cheap plastics or standard design.

You and your work are worth more than that.
Use your creativity on your surroundings.

It will feed back to you.
