Hidden Treasure In SoCal; The Santa Ana Zoo

Hi Everyone.

I found this little treasure when I moved in to Santa Ana CA, it was at the bottom of my street essentially, so a friend and I decided to check it out one Sunday.

With the overflow car park in use there was plenty of free parking available outside the Zoo, and admission was $12 for an Adult ($10 in the week) and $9 for a Child ($7 in the week). We decided to walk round first to check out all the animals, and we were surprised at how big it felt once inside the Zoo property. It felt a lot bigger than we imagined from the outside, although we did walk round the whole Zoo in under an hour, so don't get me wrong, it is a small Zoo!
There are a lot of animals there, from Monkeys

to Camels

And Lamar's and Orstritches!

We stopped at the cafe there for lunch, and the food was reasonable priced, with an adequate amount of tables available to eat at. After lunch we went to explore the Family Farm (petting Zoo area with pigs, cows and goats etc), the Train, the Aviary, and the Gift Shop. As always there was an Educational Area for the children, as well as a photo op area with cut outs

After walking round the zoo once more we decided our day there had come to an end, we left happy and surprised at how much fun we had there. I would definitely recommend this Zoo to anyone looking for a relaxing, fun, inexpensive outing for the family. Only downside is the size of the Zoo. But its big enough for a half day, or you could stretch it out to a whole depending on how long you spend in each section.
