'World's oldest person' dies in Japan at 117

117-year-old Nabi Tajima had been in hospital since becoming very weak in January.

A 117-year-old Japanese lady, thought to be the world's most seasoned individual, has passed on, a nearby authority told AFP on Sunday.

Nabi Tajima, who was conceived August 4, 1900, passed on around 1100 GMT on Saturday at a doctor's facility on her local Kikai Island in Kagoshima area, as indicated by Susumu Yoshiyuki, a wellbeing and welfare official.

Tajima, who turned into the most established lady in Japan in September 2015, could have been the most seasoned individual on the planet since Violet Brown of Jamaica kicked the bucket in September 2017 at age 117, Japanese media said.

Since Brown's demise, Guinness World Records has been examining who is the most established individual on the planet and was yet to perceive Tajima accordingly.

The most established man on the planet is 112-year-old Masazo Nonaka of Japan, the association declared on April 10.

"Ms Tajima was inhabiting a nursing community for the elderly. In January, she ended up weaker, so she was taken to a neighborhood healing center," Yoshiyuki told AFP.

"She kicked the bucket there (Saturday) because of her propelled age," he said.

Japan is known for the life span of its kin and has been home to a few most established title holders.

There are around 68,000 individuals matured 100 or more established in the nation, the administration said a year ago.
