I love you Telstra! A big FU Optus!

I finally hit rock bottom with my internet dilemma yesterday.

I woke up yesterday, managed to send a couple of people messages, Hubby included, just before I got my "You have 100mb of data remaining." message from Vodafone and was cut off from civilisation for the whole day.

Normally, that wouldn't be a problem and I'd just top up my credit but we spent all our available funds last weekend (The bed is worth it!) and for the first time in a long time we've had to use the change box lol while we wait for payday and the bond to come back.

So there I was yesterday, broke as.f, no internet, but I had my cat and 10 loads of washing to do, plus the 2018 Steem Silver design to do.

By midday my cat was sick of me and all I had was my laundry and the design.

I washed l all this yesterday 💪💪

And worked on this... (Blog coming soon!)

6pm rolls around and hubby comes home with a new Telstra modem, an hour later we are online. 🙌

By that time though I was over the internet, exhausted by all the washing, I passed out, completely missing a meeting on discord.

Telstra VS Optus

Now... Here's my story breakdown. No one actually knows the gritty details except for @holoz0r. He very graciously and generously had my back throughout the internet ordeal, providing tech and moral support. (Cheers brother!)

There were MANY problems with Optus.

First and foremost, they couldn't figure out how to send us an email with our account details. (That email NEVER came.)

Second they couldn't figure out the problem.

Hubby had to troubleshoot and fix wiring and when that still didn't work, and Optus had no clue, he rang Telstra, who found the problem (the previous owners didn't disconnect their service) and that's why our line wasn't working.

Optus was cancelled (hallelujah!!!) and Hubby, after getting my msg about no credit, no money, no internet ~ went to a Telstra shop, disconnected the previous owners, signed up, picked up the modem and hours later I'm hooked up.

They said it will be live in 24-48 hours.. Nah mate, they underestimate how good they are. Hours man.. HOURS.. Possibly 2-3 hours after sign up we were online.

Plug and Play, password worked straight away. ZERO DRAMAS with Telstra.

Also, Optus wanted $100 for their shitty modem. Our brand spanking new range modem from Telstra was free.

LIKE SERIOUSLY???!!!

I LOVE YOU TELSTRA!!!

They shit all over Optus in every way possible.

The store even told Hubby to contact them direct so he can get support straight away as opposed to being on hold with Optus for hours on end only for the call to be picked up by someone else, and the lady he's dealing with won't call him back.

Guys, Telstra is worth the money.

For starters they pretty much own all the lines and if there's a problem, the other providers need to talk to Telstra anyway, or you need to talk to Telstra.

Optus couldn't help us with disconnecting the old owners, that was a Telstra job.

So now I finally have internet!

20 months of being on mobile broadband you guys 😱😱 Scrimping and saving every mb.

I can't believe I'm back, on an unlimited plan no less 🙌🙌

It was also great to see the Universe self correcting regarding my internet. Not only did we get a better modem, we also have better service all around with Telstra. And because Optus stuffed up massively, they waived the modem cost and cancelled our contract.

That's more like my life!

Sorry I wasn't on yesterday, now you know the story. I'll be catching up on everything today. As I write this my laptop is updating it's little heart out so it shouldn't be too much longer until I'm back full force.

Happy Wednesday!

I'm glad @holozor was able to help. Goodluck in the future from one bear to another :D

:) Great news! Hopefully it continues to operate and bring you joy!

yay! Me too man. By my understanding, with the sim card, I shouldn't ever been without a connection? Im not even sure if the line is working atm, we have the sim card in there.

The SIM means if the fixed connection drops out you revert to mobile.
Its limited to max of 6mbps (usage comes out of your fixed allowance, so unlimited), but if you get decent 4G reception out there you're sitting pretty.

I'm on top of the mountain bro. my 4g recep is amazing, I fact I think I can see a tower 4 mountain rolls away ;)

I'm so happy right now I could cry..

Thanks Matt!!

Glad to have you back at full force. Fullforce @bearone is the best! I hate dealing with ISPs glad all of that is behind you and your husband.

yeehaa!! Thanks so much @gniksivart! Yep I'm glad all that is over!

Yay for internet! :D

I still hate Telstra even though we're actually with them again, and the only reason we are is because I'm not doing the phones anymore XD

Does that mean we'll see more of you? :D

goatsig

Yayay!!! Lol why the hate? We also have a phone bundled with our plan.. that's kinda cool, I don't call people tho but in case of an emergency glad to know I can finally call out.

YES YOU WILL!!! You'll get sick of me! lol

Yay! :D

Why the hate because apparently my ability to put up with a lot of things is counteracted by the ability to hold unreasonably long grudges when I am finally annoyed enough that I don't want to put up with things anymore XD

I could feel that "saving every mb", it's like you want to go in a shopping spree but couldn't do 'coz you're in a tight budget hehe. Plus the internet speed here in the Philippines is like turtle.

Ma'am, I envy those country who have a superb speed internet connection, hahah :D

lol that's it exactly. I was calculating to much uploading my pics on my blog would cost me at one point there.

I hear about your internet over there 😢😢 As bad as you think it is, it was still better than what I've had the last 20 months.

I'd drop off discord while you guys are still going strong. I hope they improve their service soon!

I agree, Telstra is the bomb. I'm glad you're one of their happy customers.

Congrats on "getting the internet back!"

Telstra is THE worst telco to deal with, so frustrating whenever I need to call them!! Check this:
