Bad luck or Murphy's law?

You wake up in the morning and see that your room is much lighter than it should be on a normal workday. The first few seconds, your mind is in inner conflict with your state of consciousness about whether it’s Saturday or not. As you are still gathering your thoughts, you suddenly realize that your alarm did not go off and by then, your heart skips a beat as you literally jump out of bed, hoping that you will not be late for work.

The shower water is cold for some reason and the bar of soap keeps slipping out of your hands. While getting dressed, you remember that you still need to brush your teeth. In the rush, you get toothpaste all over your shirt but decide to wipe it off with a wet towel because there is no time to change.

You eventually get to the car and look around for your phone but it must still be on the bedside drawer, you think to yourself. Back at the front door, the key won’t fit into the keyhole but after positioning each of the 5 keys in several different directions and are clearly irritated by now, you run inside just to see that you forgot the back door open earlier while letting the dog out to the backyard.

Finally on your way to work, you catch every single traffic light red today and a delay in traffic because of the accident between another two cars probably 20 minutes earlier. Knowing that you will not make it on time for work, you try to phone your boss just to let him know about the traffic, but his phone is off and not even going to voicemail.

Once you are at work, you feel a little better when you hear that most people were late as well because of this particular traffic issue this morning. You proceed to your office and as you sit down on your chair, the chair falls apart due to some or other factory error and you kick the trash can standing below your table out of rage.   After organizing yourself another chair, you turn on your computer to read some e-mails and as you open the second e-mail, suddenly your computer starts showing Virus alerts.

Could your day get any worse?

By now you are late for a meeting and while the tea lady pours your orange juice, she misses the glass and pours it right over your legs. There is no time to do anything about it because the CEO just walked into the meeting room and everybody stands up to greet him except you. Perhaps he now thinks that you were disrespectful for not greeting him properly and he keep targeting you with questions that you would normally be able to answer, but today is not your best day. The guy next to you asks you whether you have a new hairstyle and as you touch your hair, you remember that you washed it this morning but because you drove with an open car window to get the shirt dry, the wind now has the one side of your hair standing up and you imagine looking something like Alfalfa.

After the meeting is over, you decide to call it a day, take the rest of the day off, and head home.

What would you say, is this just plain bad luck, or is this Murphy’s Law?

That's so kind of you. Thank you so much. I'm glad you liked it ;)

It's like you somehow found your way into my experiences in my mind and lifted this post straight from there. Long story, but my alarm was set for 6:30 a.m and I crawled into bed at 6:00 a.m. A fire engine could've driven by my bed and I wasn't going t o wake up. Funny post.

No, haha, I would've rather stayed awake than to sleep for only 30minutes. Phew, that's bad.
