How to overcome your weaknesses by strengthening the body and mind to a state of equilibrium

The first question that one must answer to find their balance is..... which part of your self is the weakest and the strongest? Once you find the answer to this question you will know how to balance your self. Lets use the body and mind as an example. Do you find yourself strengthening the mind more with your daily activities? Or maybe you find yourself strengthening the physical body more often throughout your day. Depending on what you chose, You will know how to find a healthy balance to your individual body and mind make up.

The body and mind has a fine balance between itself; Just like the balance of a proton and electron or alkaline and acidic within the body. Except with matter and Ph regulation, this type of balance happens automatically without you consciously even knowing that it is happening. Ph balance is regulated by the autonomic nervous system (ANS) controlled by the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind also controls and regulates the heart, blood flow, white blood cells, muscle memory and much more; Basically any involuntary body function. To have full mind and body balance, it is necessary to gain a greater conscious awareness of what parts of ourselves we are strengthening everyday and balance those over matured parts of ourselves with the rest of the body.

Understanding ourselves better

I see a lot of people (myself included) unconsciously doing the same activities everyday. Then when they decide to consciously better their self by for example physically working out, they do their work out equally on both sides. This is especially true if you are part of a workout group because one must follow the work out program that is set for the whole group. Ideally this should work, but the outcome is usually less than satisfying.

The reason why this does not create the best balance, is because people fail to realize how all there (sub)unconscious actions through out the day are affecting them. What those actions are doing is strengthening a certain part of yourself, in the same way every single time that particular action is preformed. These actions can range from anything from small to large. Some examples of these actions are driving, opening doors, signing your signature, lifting things, sitting at a computer desk, or working at your job every day; Basically anything that you do that you no longer consciously have to think about to preform, those actions fall into this category. Actually, at least 90% of everything we do is done with our subconscious mind. So in reality, the majority of what you do and how you do it is not actually decided with your conscious mind. These actions slowly build up over time and gain a great strength; Just like tiny drops of water that eventually create an ocean.

Examining our strengths and weaknesses

It is necessary to acknowledge and embrace our strengths and weaknesses equally. If we hide our weaknesses then we will never be able to mature that part of ourselves. On the other hand, if we only focus on our strengths then we become imbalanced; In some extreme case this imbalance with the strength we build can be almost like a tumor, constantly growing and pulling away resources from other parts of the body.

These types of imbalances happen because everything that has a push also has a pull, ever action has an equal and opposite reaction. The body is not just something that can be understood by only dividing it into pieces and making an absolute judgment like this is how the body works. It is a full thriving ecosystem, it's a living environment within; Every single aspect of the body has a purpose and connects with all the other parts. Therefore if we study it through isolating individual parts, it is then necessary to find how those parts reconnect to the whole again.

Listening to your body

Our being has an innate wisdom of what it needs the most. It is constantly sending messages to us to communicate these things. Often though these messages go unheard or are misunderstood. Pain is often one of these messages that get misunderstood. If we get hurt and we are consciously aware of it (Ex: burning yourself), then we usually react immediately in a well mannered way to help ourselves; Usually without even thinking about it. But when the pain happens from something that has built up over time, we are often confused and just feeling like something messed up within us out of nowhere.

It can be difficult because sometimes the pain can be very intense, often there is an instinct to make it go away as quick as possible. This is actually counter productive since it is a message being sent to you from your body. The first step with dealing with this situation is to take a deep breath, calm yourself, and accept the present moment and know that everything changes. Now that you have found a state of peace, feel which location on your body the message is coming from. Know that this area is often not the cause of the feeling but usually the after effect of another area being to dominant/too strong.

Isolating parts of ourselves to find our dominant and passive parts of our being

Like I said earlier, everything has a push and pull to it. If your right arm/hand is dominant, then your left side will passively be pulled. If your always looking to the left with your eyes the right side of your neck and shoulder will be pulled. These types of things (although small like raindrops) when done over and over again all add up. This is what creates these imbalances of one part of the body being stronger and another opposite part to become weaker. This can even be applied to the brain with left brain/right brain principles.

So if your focused on the weaker part of your body (passive) that you would like to change, find the other part of your body (dominant) that pulls your weaker part. Then find an exercises that strengthens the opposite passive part of you that is not dominant. For example if your at your desk all day in front of your computer, then do a work out where your stretching your arm up behind your head towards your back. Then proceed to pull your arms back down towards your chest. These different types of exercises will eventually balance all your everyday habits.

more or less this type of exercise

Conclusion

If we are to become more balanced within ourselves, a greater awareness of are everyday actions is necessary. The steps to doing this are quite simply if you can make a daily habit of gaining awareness of how you are preforming each action everyday.
1) Find the habits and activities that you do most everyday.
2) Analyze what type of movements and muscles you use the most to preform these actions. These part of yourself are most likely dominant and strong than the other part if your body.
3) Now that you've found your strong dominant parts of your body that you use most, find what opposite parts of your dominant side get pull the most. Basically find the parts of your body that passively follow the dominant parts of your body when you move.
4) For an exercise that strengthens those passive parts of yourself and turns them into the dominant parts during your workout. This will effectively start balancing out your dominant side by pulling it instead.
5) If you find that the workout is pulling your dominant part, then continue to do this exercise daily. Either taking a break everyday in between or only taking a break when you feel like the workout was harder than it was in the previous days.
With these steps I'm am starting and continuing to find my balance. Balancing out any tension that I created from my past job and feeling great. To know thyself is to create thyself.

YES!!! So glad to read someone else who truly understands that "The body is not just something that can be understood by only dividing it into pieces ... It is a full thriving Every single aspect of the body has a purpose and connects with all the other parts."
This knowledge deeply affects how one lives at every moment, thank you for writing about it!

Glad you enjoyed my article and I appreciate you comments. Yes, I do feel that way. To often doctors or traditional medicine feel that it is ok to remove a certain body part (like the appendix). While it is "ok" and the body can function with out it, it does not mean it is necessary or practical.
No problem, thanks you for the compliment.

P.S. Here is a pro tip for how to you quote format without using "parentheses". Just start a new line then put this > before the quote you want to use and people here on steemit will immediatly know this its a quote and it show up better. Like this:
