How would you prefer to die?

This is going to be a long answer and it can even contain information that will not be really pleasant to read. If you are sure, you can proceed or just skip to the last paragraph.

According to my religion, death is not the end. It is just a closure of a chapter. We will continue to take births after that and continue the journey until there is an actual end. The actual end can take several births and we might have to undergo lots of experiences and as a collective efforts and as an outcome of multiple births, we will be able to attain a state where we will no longer take any birth and we will be merged with pure consciousness. I buy this theory to some extent and I strongly believe that death is not the complete end for our journey. With that thought in mind, I would like to explain my preference of death.

This is really a sensitive question. Most of the people might not spend enough time to explore this in deep. However people who try to explore this in deal and find answers might get too much of spiritual enlightenment. We can also say that the path of spiritual journey starts by asking few questions to ourselves. What is the purpose of this life? What happens after we die? Who am I? Am I this body? What is my potential? Lets not go deep into those subjects now and stick with the context of this article. First of all I would like to start with few basic questions.

What is death?

Death is a state where this body is no longer functional to do any activity. Death also shows that the body had something inside that was responsible for the body to function. When that "thing" goes away from the body, it reaches the state of death. Many people give different explanations to that "thing". It can be the breath that we intake, it can be the heart beat, it can be the brain functions and it can be everything. I would say everything is controlled by that "thing". When the "thing" goes away from the body, a person is considered to be dead. You can even call the "thing" as Soul according to various religion.

Some religions do not accept the concept of life after death and some religions say that the Soul will be getting a new body after death. Once a body becomes unfit for life, the Soul is released from that body and takes a new body and continues to fulfill deeds and desires. Karma theory says that a person gets a good body or bad body based on each one's Karma. These are all different perspectives given to death.

Preference of death

Death is not something that we can decide. It either happens naturally, accidentally or in a forced manner with suicides. In the first two instances we will not be able to decide our preference of death. But in the third type which is suicide people will be able to decide how they really want to die. Some people with high suffering might feel like ending their life to not suffer more. I'm completely against this decision. We as human-beings have no right to end our lives against the act of nature.  Not just our life but anyone's life for that matter. We have absolutely no right to do that and we should never go to that thought at all.

In natural death usually people will not know what happened. In most of the cases the death would have happened during sleep. From the looks of it, it might look that they experienced no pain but we can never be sure how much pain they underwent before death. People think natural death is the more safest way where a person will get a peaceful end. It is not the case. I would say it is an unconscious state in which death occurs.

In accidental death, usually people will experience lots of pain. They will undergo difficult times towards the end fighting between life and death. Some accidents might take away the life immediately but some accidents might even complicate the process and provide a suffering death. It will sometimes take lots of time for the soul to depart from the body. This is the painful death someone can have.

Peaceful death

Almost everyone will want to have a peaceful death in their life. We have to understand the fact that if we are born, we will definitely have death in our life. We have to be mentally prepared for that. We will not be able to escape death by any chance. Fear of death complicates the instance of death. If people are having fear in their mind towards death, there will be rejections from the body and when the actual death happens they end up suffering.

My preference of death would be to be very active during the time of death and when the soul depart from my body, the soul should know about it and that is when it will be a complete death. If the focus is more on the body part, there will be lots of suffering and lots of pain experienced during death. If the focus is more on the soul's side, it will be a peaceful death where I will be able to experience how it is departing from the body. Of course these are all theories but I would like to experiment such a death instead of a death that happens when I'm sleeping. Most of the saints and Yogis experience a death that happens when they are really conscious about it. It will not usually happen when they are unconscious or asleep. It can even be described as the state of Samadhi.
